Kamsi nodded.
“Don't let me lay a curse on you this afternoon”
“Please mummy forgive her", pleaded her daughter on kamsi's behalf.
“Trust me if I do it will surely come to pass”, the woman continues, “I have a granddaughter up to your age!”
All this while Kamsi was silent and was wondering what she has done wrong, she quietly left the store and proceed home.
She wondered how she will break the news to Nonso, how she will tell her that she has lost her phone, her precious phone, she's aware of how she doesn't joke with it. It's the only means she could hear Emeka's voice anytime, anywhere, even if they don’t see for a long time and Emeka on the other hand always call to checkup on her. Now how will she tell her that she has lost it, ‘just how?’, she thought.

Nonso was sitting in a stool so high for it to be able to match the long table, on it were some of the laboratory equipment. She picked a magnet which was already attracted to each other in a clump and started disengaging them one after the other and then magnets them back again. She kept on playing with it to keep herself busy while waiting for Mr Nnadi who told her to wait for him when she came to see him as he instructed, she wondered what he would do to her.
Mr Nnadi unlocked the iron protector and walked in locking it back, he was holding a full nylon bag, he dropped it on the table and brought out a bottle of cold drink and some snacks dropping each of them in front of Nonso, “these are for you", he said to her.
“Thanks but I can't take them"
“You are rejecting what I gave you!”, he exclaimed and she remained silent, “it's okay if you don't want them", he said and put them back in the nylon bag, “you already know why I called you here", he continued, “where is the mobile phone?”
“I can't find it anymore”
“Liar! You know where it is", he said angrily.
“I'm not lying sir"
“I called you here to talk to you… gently! But it seems like you prefer the hard way… I repeat! Where is the fucking phone!”
“Sir! With all due respect that was not a gentle way to talk as you claimed you did and that word shouldn’t be used around the school premises"
“What word?”, he asked steadily looking at her.
“You know the word I’m talking about sir"
“No I don’t! Tell me!"
“The word fuck”
“What? I didn’t hear you”
“I said fuck", she repeated and Mr Nnadi smiled still holding his stare.
“I heard you the first time, I just wanted to hear it again, I love the way you said it, it sounds so arousing hearing it from your lips”
“Now who is the Liar!”, Nonso mummured.
“You say what?”
“Nothing sir", she replied.
There was a little silence between them as he was staring, “has someone ever told you how beautiful you are?”, he said and she didn't utter a word, she was just gazing at the magnet at where she dropped them avoiding his eyes.
“Was that the reason for calling me sir", she finally said.
“No", he said looking away from her, “I want you to give me the phone"
“I said I don't have it sir"
“Who does"
“I don't know"
“Can we make a deal?”
“What deal?”
“The handing over of the school prefects to your set will soon be coming up and I will be the one handling it, I will see to it that you will be given the post of Assistant Senior Prefect only if you hand me the phone, think about it and act fast"
“I know you won't believe me sir but i've lost my phone, I kept it in my school bag but now couldn't find it, I don't know what else you want me to do or say"
“Of course I won’t believe you, you have it and must provide it unless if you are saying the truth…..”
“Yes sir! I am sir", interrupted Nonso.
“There is something else you can do to bail yourself of course”, he continued, “That’s only if you are ready to do it then I might forget about the phone"
“What do you want me to do sir", she asked wondering what it could be but knows for sure that it won't be something she would be proud of.
Mr Nnadi shifted his seat closer to hers and intensely looked deep in to her eyes, “let’s fuck!”, he whispered.
Nonso was not surprised from hearing such from him, she would have been if she hasn't known him well, this time she summoned some courage and looked at him, he's quite young and handsome and looks presentable, he is the type of man any woman would admire and love to have, she's sure his wife would be happy and proud of having him in her life, “does she know who you truly are?”, she asked still starring at him.
“Who are you referring to?”
“Your wife!”
“Why bringing her to this?”
“How will you feel if you caught her cheating on you?”
Mr Nnadi gave out a short laugh, “I will send her back to her father's house, she will leave my house immediately”
“Now how will she feel if she finds out that you are cheating on her?”
“The highest she can do is to leave my house, either way she's the one to lose"
“What do you mean?”
“If she was the one that caught me, she will leave, if I was the one, she will still leave and she will be a laughing stock to people, you see! She's the one leaving my house not me, I am the man and the head of the house, I have the power to do whatever I want to and it's none of my business if she’s okay with it or not, so if I were her I would accept whatever it is that is being dished to me as my fate”
