Nonso went to Kamsi to comfort her, "you don't need those tears now", she said and took her in. Her mother came back and she told her everything that happened, "you shouldn't have let them in, she has gone through a lot already", she told her.
Nonso went to school the following day and Harry came to see her in class holding Kamsi's notebook, "I've completed it", he said dropping an Economics note on top of her locker.
"Thanks", she told him and he nodded.
"I heard what happened yesterday"
"what exactly did you hear", she asked already aware that he was talking about Kamsi.
"How they came to your place...."
"Who doesn't know Nonye!", she sighed.
"How is she?"
"She is doing fine"
"Will like to see her"
"Then you have to give her the note yourself", she said picking it up and handing it back to him, he took it from her, "meet me when the school closes", she told him before he left. Nonye approached her and she wondered what she wants from her this time and if she hasn't done enough already.
"What do you want?", asked Nonso.
"Please don't query me!", she shouted, "I only came to inform you that you are wanted by our class teacher"
"Is there any problem?", she asked.
"I think you should ask her yourself", she said and went to her group of friends who were listening to them and laughing at Nonso.
Nonso wondered what she has done that their class teacher wants to see her. She got up from her seat and went to the staff room. She greeted the staffs and they all answered except Mrs. Peter who was busy writing in her long notebook and didn't care to look up. She went close to her and greeted, "good morning Ma!".
She didn't utter a word either and Nonso stood waiting for her to reply or at least say the reason for calling her but rather she silently continued writing for some minutes before speaking, "Is it true of what I heard?", she finally asked looking up to her.
"What Ma?", she asked surprised of how the news have already gotten to the teachers.
"Did she just answered back with question?", she asked her fellow staffs who has paused whatever they were doing to listen to their conversation.
"She was the one that badly influence that girl, the Kamsi I knew was an innocent girl and couldn't do such", said Miss Grace and others concurred.
"Seriously I didn't believe it when Nonye told me not until it was confirmed by her sister", said Mrs. James.
Nonso knew that there is no doubt Ugochi could have being part of the rumor and the source if care is not taken, "sorry Ma!", she apologized, "It's true"
"I thought you were claiming not to know what I'm talking about", she said eyeing her, "it's only God that saved you, if not I could have seriously dealt with you right now", she hissed and got up, "follow me!", she commanded and she followed her to the principal's office, he was seating in his chair and was sorting out printed sheets piled on the desk in front of him.
"Good morning sir!", greeted Nonso.
"Good morning", he answered and then looked at her, "your friend is pregnant am I right?"
"Yes sir!"
"And she's not living with her parents any longer but with you?"
"Yes sir!"
