SerenityI watched Brianna as she strutted stealthily around my chair. Leaning just a few inches in, she gently shakes clumps of dark chocolate bars into the ceramic plate before me. I swallowed hard, eagerly wanting to slap her wrist but remained still.
She was one of the people who worked here but has never spoken to me harshly. I won't let anyone walk over me anymore, they will not abuse my kindness nor take it for granted. Glenn seated himself comfortably next to me, his warm presence brought much comfort to my bustling heartstrings.
He diligently takes care of my needs and makes time for me given his busy schedule, however, he was very careful about physical contact, and that only builds my affection towards him even more. I craved his touch to the point of hopelessness. This made me miserable, why must he avoid intimacy?
The slightest brush of his skin against mine made me weak to the core. He doesn't allow me entry to his bedroom and this was something Agnes triumphs over, maybe he does have a girlfriend and just wants to hide it.
He's such a wonderful person and very ambitious, hearing him over the phone at times, I knew well that his staff looked up to him.
Okay, focus. Brianna pours champagne into my drinking glass and returns to her post. The sight of the chocolate on the plate stirs bile at the back of my throat and panic slowly creeps up my flesh.
"Breathe Serena, you need to overcome your fear of chocolate and I promise to help you." He says, rubbing my shoulder with a loving hand.
I took this moment to lean into him, his magnetic scent swirls into my nostrils like a relentless hurricane. A blend of silk blossom wrapped around my trembling body with a touch of vanilla and musk. It's such a light, powdery fragrance but so manly at the same time. He smells irresistible.
The sexual chemistry that I felt was more than just his appearance. It was the style and choice of his attire, the way that he talked and that spontaneous, dark yet mesmerizing personality. That did such amazing things to my heart.
He smiled and I couldn't stop myself from placing an open-mouthed kiss along his sharp jawline, excruciatingly close to his lips. A deep growl vibrates from his chest and there is no assurance if that sound shows his displeasure or satisfaction. Crap, maybe that was too pushy?
I'm in so much trouble. The female servants were glaring at me from every direction, they had no intention of getting along with me from the start.
When he speaks, my shoulders jump. "So, this is the distraction you choose to get away from facing your fear?" he surmised, grasping my chin in the cleft of his fingers.
"No, you sitting close to me is a distraction," I confessed, failing to keep a fiery blush from exposing my hidden feelings.
He was a bit astonished by my direct honesty but not disturbed by it. His perfectly embedded Adam's apple bobs slightly as if he was contemplating something.
"Please do not remind me of the bloody chocolate on my plate, alright?"
His head ducks to take my lips and several gasps erupted around us, he didn't move another inch. It was almost like he was waiting for me to meet his mouth. I drew away, my face was burning hot.
Did he sigh heavily, from disappointment or relief? There's no way for me to tell but a palpable heat oozed from his body. We've only ever kissed once, literally.
I'm hoping he'll always be my first because I don't plan on doing that with anyone else.
He clears his throat and I force myself to make eye contact with the bits of chocolate, waiting to be dealt with. That stuff has never entered my mouth in years and this very moment made me sore and afraid. A lot of bad memories from my past experiences hitched at the back of my head like a parasite.
