"Surprise!"

A group of people shouted and they all surrounded me, each laying a kiss on my cheek. It was a welcome party! My name was up on a lovely blue banner.

I've never had a party host for me before. Everyone cheered, popping champagne and a girl ushered me towards a well prepared table, there were sweets and cake with so much food. They were blasting - Hurts So Good by, Astrid S.

She placed a hand made crown woven out of red and white roses a top of my head. Glenn introduced me to each and every person though Bianci, his aunt was the nicest, she treated me so well.

The music fills the air without effort, like waves, filling holes in beach sand; the sound rushing in and around every person

Some react to the beat, others continue in chatter but always it speaks to them in some manner.

A lively tempo can really elevate the spirit. Before the notes filled the air, every person was an island and with it we all feel the same tidal flows, the beginnings of togetherness feels warm.

Screaming swarms of children ran through the area as bubbles floated in the air and balloons drifted around aimlessly on the lush grass among discarded wrapping paper. Glenn and I momentarily exchange glances and when our eyes meet, we would share a smile.

I stuffed my mouth with cake, glancing around excitedly. Francesca babbles, wiping her baby saliva on my face, she was Bianci's daughter.

Her chummy pink cheeks glow healthily and she screams, laughing. Her little hand pats my breasts before burying her face there.

"Oh! Francesca. I am not mommy."

Multi-coloured banners were draped across each other and a stack of unopened presents was covered with shiny wrapping paper. A silk bow had been carefully tied around each parcel.

I sighed contentedly, I can't wait to open them.

Some of the kids loomed over a decorated table, they grabbed at sandwiches and filled their mouths with sweets. How can they eat so much? No wonder they can't stay still.

I scolded them.

"Too much sweets is bad for your teeth!"

They nodded but took more before running off. I reached out for a jug of orange juice while Francesca was busy trying to find my breasts.

I could eat the air and drink the music, so heady is the fragrance of the saffron rice and the melody of the vibrations. The sun was hot in a way that dries the soil underfoot and warms everything one touches, from the wooden table to the sanitary cups.

It was the large trees, that gave just the right amount of shade and covering.

A woman with a sleek bob, attired in a black mini dress saunters over to my table. I have not met her, she spits disappoinment at me with her eyes before yanking a chair to sit on.

She was probably in her early thirties but would appear much younger if her face wasn't so heavily coated with make-up.

When she speaks, her voice poisons the atmosphere.

"Don't you ever think for once, that you'll be apart of this family." she takes Francesca from my arms, "Glenn doesn't need a gold digger like you."

My lower lip trembles and I lost my voice as tears stung my eyes.

She stares at me like vomit and with that, she gets up with the baby. Her heel sticks into my foot painfully and I winced.

"I'll break it next time you set foot here." She threatens.
