I sighed, burying my eyes into the documents on the desk. I was currently locked away in my private study. There were hardly any breaks here, having to deal with all this work. To make matters even more tedious, these files were sent here in physical copies instead of digital ones.

Vixan has a lot of explaining to do, she was my assistant at the company and has always been efficient but what happened this time? I reclined in my chair, scrolling impatiently over the unorganized information on the computer.

As the CEO of Wyntech Corporation and the heir of a mafia family, I technically have a lot of responsibility.

The board was responsible for developing software, including system UI's that help citizens in the medical field, intricate apps, and assistance with the enhancement and development of equipment used in that field. I didn't want to live off my father's wealth, there must be a foundation for myself as a man.

The mansion was always clean, both inside and out, and I attributed this to Arthur, the gardener. He is truly in charge of caring for the environment around my house. He was also a very good friend of mine; he's very honest and doesn't mind speaking his mind.

Throughout most of my life's bumpy roads, he provided sound relationship and business advice. I don't have a connection with my family members, so there's no reason to seek advice from them other than my sister, who constantly nags me.

The corners of my mouth twitch in a skeptical smile; Romance sounded trite to me. I had never thought of presents, roses, kisses in front of the Eiffel Tower, and dates. I've always been the type of guy who was busy with work and didn't take a break for things like that.

My friends call me a playboy, a womanizer, and a charming bastard. I chuckled lightly and shook my head at her misguided judgment. I've only had one relationship and that was with a girl named Sakara, we pretty much broke up two years ago.

She was my therapist, but she played with my feelings at the most vulnerable times of my life. The cracks in my heart showed whenever she touched me. I'm the type of person who doesn't sleep with a woman just out of sudden desire or to satisfy carnal needs.

I ran my fingers through my messy hair with a sad weight. We didn't sleep together but I loved her, she secretly destroyed my dignity while helping me deal with the ups and downs of my life. It's so hard to move on 'cause she's the only one I've committed myself to.

My world collapsed when I found out she was depositing huge sums of money from my bank account unbeknownst to me, after the shocking discovery she denied it and stated it was an allegation.

She kept lying and that made me angrier right away. I pretended to believe her and that gave me the chance to hire a private investigator. It took him two months to gather evidence of the theft and I ended it with her by cutting all ties and connections. I guarded my heart very closely and this was the only way to protect myself from another heartbreak.

Women were always pouncing on me and it disgusted me beyond words. I will never let another get past my barrier, ever. I growled and the pencil in my hand snapped like a twig, unaware of the pressure finding its way there.

A soft knock on the door takes my attention away from the laptop.

"Enter," I replied, returning to my work immediately.

Agnes carefully steps inside with a trey in her hand, pausing briefly before speaking, "I've brought your dinner, Sir."

Is it just my imagination, or has her skirt shrunk a few inches? Agnes shifts uncomfortably in front of my prying eyes. I wanted to inquire about the change but decided it wasn't the right time, "Thank you, please take it here."
