Hi. I'm Hitochi Kazangan, and for all intents and purposes, I'm a perfectly normal High school student. I get decent grades, I'm relatively popular, but I do have one massive secret, well two, but we'll get to the second one later.

So, my secret is that I have a 'hobby' that's a little unusual. I'm a vigilante, you may have heard of me, I go by Arachnid. Yeah, I know what you're thinking, 'they're just a blatant Spider-Man ripoff' and honestly, that's not far from the truth, I guess I just like to think I'm inspired by him. I've even worked with him a couple of times, he's pretty cool. Charming, but in the aloof way, like he doesn't even try.

Honestly, I'm kinda into him, but there's someone a little closer to home that I have my eye on. Peter Parker, I don't think he knows who I am, but if he does, it's probably just as the kid two rows behind him with great fashion sense, I know that sounds egotistical, but it's the truth.

So anyway, now that I've introduced myself, I guess the only only thing left to do is to start telling my story.

I remember the date perfectly, 13th of June, and who says 13 is unlucky.

But anyway, the day starts as all days do, I wake up at about 6:30am, two full hours before school starts, just enough time get my morning workout done. As I start getting out of bed, Arachnid begins to form my super-suit around me, They get just as excited as I do about this, but I have to reign them in, because I need to leave the proper way so my parents don't get suspicious. I have to focus a little bit, but I manage to get them to change into my 'normal' clothes.

I walk out of my room to see that mom has already sorted out a full breakfast, which is a bit weird, since I'm normally out the door before they wake up, but I'm not gonna argue with a decent breakfast.

"Hi Mom." I say with a slight puzzlement in my voice.
"Good morning Jac- I'm sorry, I meant Hito." My Mom still sometimes uses my dead name, I don't hold it against her, I've not had my name changed for that long, so we're still in an adjustment period, plus her new nickname for me is cute.
"So. Why are you up so early?" I ask.
"Oh, I set my alarm a bit too early, so I decided to make the most of it."
"OK." I say as I sit down and check my phone.

Again, I know this sounds quite egotistical, but I usually check the local news sites to see who gets the credit for the work I did last night.

It seems like Spidey got the credit for my work, again. I think some people believe that we're the same person, just in a different costume. Sometimes though, very rarely, somebody will mention me in the comments, so it's nice to see I still have some fans.

Putting that aside, the recognition has nothing to do with why I love this job, honestly crime-fighting is a means to an end for me, of course heroes are supposed to have a 'for the greater good' mentality, but honestly, why should I care about that, I do good things because I get the same rush a normal teenager might get from shoplifting, without having to deal with the negative aspects of getting that rush.

I know I'm not painting myself in the best light here, but I promise I get better, that's kinda the point of this story.

So, I finish my breakfast, thank my Mom before I leave, duck into an alleyway, and zip up to the rooftops. We check the time "7:26. That's plenty of time right?" we ask ourselves before landing a handspring off of a vent and swinging through the high-rises of Midtown. The commute to school is full of the usual crimes, attempted break-ins, the odd mugging. We did have to catch a dog-napper, which was weird, but kinda fun. Whenever anyone saw us they said the usual 'we love you Spidey' or something like that (Sometimes I wish I didn't have to cover my face, just so they could see me roll my eyes). One person did use Arachnid though, so it could've been worse

Now, for the reason We have this day so burned into our memory. Right outside of our school, because apparently whoever is up there does have a sense of humour, the Shocker appears out of nowhere, carrying a bag of.. something, we couldn't quite tell what.

Now, to tell the truth, we really didn't want to have to deal with this, but the other guy was nowhere to be seen, so we had no choice. "He owes us. Big time." We grumble as we slingshot ourselves backwards to start chasing after Shocker.

A/N: Hi everyone. I hope you all of you enjoy this new take on Arachnid. Arachnid has always been a character that I've used to reflect my life and cope with my issues, which is why I needed to update them, to better represent where I am as person now, compared to where I was at 15. I promise to try and be more regular with uploading, and actually try to finish the story this time.
