Chapter 18: Riddled

Liv's in Scott's room sleeping, with Scott's arms around her protectively. Liv phone vibrates and sees its Stiles. Liv answers and says, "Hey, Stiles, What's up? Stiles you there?" Stiles breathes heavily and whispers, "Liv?" Liv removes Scott's arms around her and gets up and says, "Hey, I'm here. Are you okay? Can you hear me?" Stiles says, "Liv, I don't... I don't know where I am. I don't know how I got here. I think I was sleepwalking." Liv says, "Okay, um, can you see anything? Just tell me what you see." Stiles says, "Ah, it's dark. It's hard to see. I think there's something wrong with my..." The phone disconnects and Liv shakes Scott awake and he says, "Liv? What's wrong?" Liv says, "It's Stiles, he doesn't know where he is." Liv tries to call Stiles, but it goes to straight to voicemail. Liv calls again and it still goes straight to voicemail. Liv softly cries out, "Damn it." Liv keeps calling and he's not answering and she feels like she about to have a panic attack. Scott notices and his eyes widen and says, "Whoa, whoa, hey breathe, breathe, Liv." Liv tries to control her breathing but can't stop thinking about how Stiles is missing. Stiles then calls Liv and she puts it on speaker and Liv says, "Thank God! Stiles?" Stiles says, "Liv, I don't think I can get out of here. I can't move." Scott says, "Where are you?" Stiles says, "I don't know. I don't know, it's too dark. I can't see much, but something's wrong with my leg. It's stuck on something. And it's... I think it's bleeding." Liv says, "How bad? Stiles, how bad is it? Stiles, are you here? Can you here me?" Stiles says, "Ah, there's some kind of smell down here. Something smells terrible. It's brutal. My eyes are watering." Scott says, "Okay, listen. I'm calling your dad." Stiles says, "No, no, no, no, don't." Liv says, "Why not?" Stiles says, "Just don't okay. Just please don't call him. Promise you guys won't. He already worries about me and Liv too much. Scott, Liv, please." Scott says, "But what if I can't find you?" Liv says, "Stiles, we can't make a promise like that." Stiles says, "No, come find me. You guys can do it. He doesn't have to know. Scott, Liv, you can find me." Scott says, "I don't know if I can do this." Stiles sniffs and says, "Oh, I gotta call you back. I have to turn the phone off." Liv says, "What? No, hey, wait..." Stiles says, "I'm gonna call you back." Scott says, "Hold on, Stiles wait... hold on, man." Stiles then hangs up and Liv and Scott are both freaking out. 

Liv gets dressed and Scott yells for Isaac. As Liv starts leaving, Scott says, "Liv, hang on a second!" Liv voice cracks and says, "I don't have a second to waste. I'm going to tell my dad about Stiles." Scott says, "He just made us promise not too." Liv says, "You may have promised, but I didn't. It's freezing outside and he could die any second." Liv leaves Scott's without Scott and goes to see her dad and tells him Stiles is missing. Liv explains everything Stiles told her over the phone. As Liv is in the bathroom washing her face to make it seem like she hasn't been crying. Liv's phone vibrates and it's Stiles. Liv says, "Hey, Stiles." Stiles says, "Did you call him? Did you call dad?" Liv chews her lip and lies, "No. Scott just got Isaac and we're coming to find you. Can you figure out where you are? Try to find something and tell us where to look." Stiles says, "It's a basement. I think... I think I'm in some kind of basement." Liv says, "In a house?" Stiles says, "No. It looks bigger. Like industrial. I think there's a furnace. But it's cold. It's freezing down here. I gotta turn the... I gotta turn the phone off. It's going to die." Liv says, "Wait, wait, wait. What else is there? What do you see?" Stiles says, "The phone is dying. I can't talk." Stiles whispers, "I have to go." Liv says, "Stiles, why are you whispering?" Stiles whispers and says, "Because I think there's someone in here with me." Stiles then hangs up the phone and Liv's stomach churns. Liv then goes to tell her dad what happened. Later, Scott and Isaac go to the sheriff station and find Liv in chair. Her dad starts giving orders to put on an APB on Stiles jeep. Scott says, "Hey, you coming?" Liv looks up at Scott and says, "No, you guys go ahead. I'll catch up." Scott nods and kisses Liv's forehead and walks away. Later, Agent McCall comes into the station and sees Liv in chair looking at papers. Agent McCall says, "Where is everyone? We get a lead on our sword-wielding maniac?" Parrish says, "Nope. But we've got posters up all over town for your guy." Agent McCall says, "Not exactly how I describe him to the sketch artist." Parrish says, "Well, you're not exactly the highest priority of the night, Agent McCall." Agent McCall says, "What does that mean? What's the high priority?" Liv looks up from the papers and says, "Stiles, he's missing." The papers that Liv's looking at is the transcript of her phone call with Stiles.  Liv says, "Oh my god." Agent McCall says, "Liv?" Liv turns and says, "I know where he is." Agent McCall says, "Okay, let's go find him." Liv and Agent McCall get into his car and go look for Stiles. While in the car, Mr. McCall says, "Where exactly is Stiles? Liv says, "He's in a coyote den." Mr. McCall says, "How are you so sure?" Liv says, "He said he smelt something awful and that his eyes were watering. He said he was freezing. Does it sound crazy that I think he's still sleeping?" Mr. McCall looks at Liv and says, "No, it doesn't sound crazy." They arrive and Liv gets out the car and finds Stiles and holds him in her arms. Stiles screams himself awake and Liv says, "Stiles. Stiles! Stiles, you're all right! Okay!" Stiles looks at Liv and she says, "I found you, your gonna be okay." Stiles leans into the comfort of his sisters arms. They take him to the hospital. Liv's outside of the hospital with Derek starting up Stiles jeep. Liv says, "Hey, Derek?" Derek says, "Yeah?" Liv says, "You know about Kitsunes right?" Derek says, "A little, why?" Liv says, "I have friend who could use your help." Derek says, "Okay." Liv says, "Her name is Kira." Derek says, "The same Kira that Barrow wanted to kill?" Liv nods and says, "Yeah." Derek senses something else is wrong and says, "What's wrong." Liv sighs and says, "I think Stiles is the Nogitsune." Derek says, "You think your brother, skinny, defenseless, brother is the Nogitsune? A powerful dark spirit?" Liv says, "Yeah, I do. It hasn't been getting enough sleep and he's a little jumpy and he doesn't have and 'S' behind his ear. I know it sounds really crazy, but..." Derek says, "Your right it does sound crazy. This thing wants to possess someone and it chooses Stiles? Why wouldn't it take someone bigger, stronger? Someone with a little more...Power." Liv says, "Because that's what it wants you to think. The Nogitsune can only posses someone if their weak. It all started when Stiles, Scott, and Allison when into a ice bath. Scott and Allison can protect themselves." Derek nods and says, "But Stiles can't, that's why Stiles was protecting us." Liv says, "He was protecting us from his self." Later in the hospital, her dad says, "He's sleeping now and he's just fine. He doesn't remember much. It's a bit like a dream to him. Thank you." Agent McCall says, "It was all your daughter here. She's a pretty smart kid." The sheriff looks at his daughter, who's holding Stiles hand and having her head on his lap sleeping and says, "Yeah, she is." The next day, Stiles is getting an MRI and the doctor, Melissa, and their dad leave to give  Stiles, Liv, and Scott a moment alone. Liv softly cries and Stiles says, "You know what they're looking for, right?" Liv nods and sniffs, "Frontotemporal Dementia. It's the only form of Dementia that can hit teenagers. Mom had it." Stiles says, "Your so smart, Liv. Dad told me you found me. Liv..." Stiles sees his younger sister breakdown and gives her a big hug and Liv cries  says, "I can't loose you like I lost mom." Stiles pulls away and as Liv is about to leave, Stiles says, "Hey, Liv?" Liv softly says, "Yeah?" Stiles says, "Everyone one has it, but no one can loose it." Liv's mouth goes dry and whispers, "A towel." Stiles nods and watch's her walk away. Stiles says, "I need you to watch out over her, promise me." Scott nods and says, "You know I'll always watch over her." Stiles says, "There's no cure." Scott says, "Stiles, if you have it, we'll do something. I'll do something." They both then hug. Later Liv's outside crying, because she can feel the Nogitsune taking over her brother's body and there's nothing she can do about it.
