Chapter 24: The Divine Move

Liv, Scott, and Isaac are at the sheriff station. Since Liv has blood on her shirt, Scott gave her his jacket to cover it up. The sheriff brings his daughter in office to speak with her alone. Her father softly says, "Can you tell me what actually happened?" Liv nods and sniffs, "Me, Isaac, Allison and Kira we're fighting the Oni. I was losing to an Oni and I was about to get killed and then Allison saved me by shooting an arrow and killing one of them. The when she wasn't looking another Oni came and stabbed her in the stomach. Dad she saved me." Liv cries and her dad brings her into his arms and rubs her back and says, "It's okay. It's gonna be okay." The sheriff holds his crying daughter and kisses the top of her head. 

The next day, Liv and Scott go to see Deaton. Scott says, "Stiles, Lydia, and Kira said it was the Nemeton that kept it trapped." Deaton says, "The problem is this isn't even a person you're fighting. It just looks like one. It's a spirit that's taken the shape of a human." Liv says, "The shape of my brother. Someone can do it, right?" Deaton says, "I don't know. This thing was trapped a long time ago, before the Nemeton was cut down. It doesn't have the same power anymore." Scott says, "Is there anything that does?" Deaton says, "Possibly. When the tree was whole, it's wood was sometimes used to contain powerful objects. But those objects are very rare." Liv says, "Wait a second. Powerful objects? Like an Alpha's claws?" Deaton says, "Which Alpha?" Liv says, "Talia Hale. Derek has them in this wooden box with a triskele carved on the lid. What if it was made from the Nemeton?" Deaton says, "It was." Scott says, "How do you know?" Deaton says, "Because I made it." After Scott calls Derek, he says, "Derek's gonna bring the box and meet us at the school." Liv senses something wrong and Deaton says, "What's wrong?" Liv says, "Something's happening. I had this sudden feeling, like we're running out of time." Kira and Lydia walk in holding Stiles up and he says, "Yeah. Yeah, I kind of got that feeling, too." Later, they all arrive at the school and Liv helps Lydia hold Stiles and Stiles says, "Guys, hold on. I know what you're all thinking. If this works, it might kill me, too. But even if it does, you guys have to stick with the plan, okay?" Liv softly says, "The plan is to save you. That's the plan we're going with." They open the doors and they walk into a wintery garden. Stiles says, "Oh, this is definitely not part of the plan." They turn around to see the Nogitsune and he says, "Like I promised, Stiles. We're going to kill all of them. One by one." Then the Oni appear and Kira uses her sword to block it's sword. Scott says, "What the hell is this? Where are we?" The Nogitsune says, "Between life and death." Liv says, "Bardo." The Nogitsune says, "But there are no peaceful deities here, Liv. You're dying, Stiles and now everyone you care about is dying, too." Stiles says, "What? What do you mean?" The Nogitsune says, "I've captured almost all of the territories on the board, Stiles. The hospital. The sheriff's station. And now the animal clinic. Do you know the ritual of Seppuku, Stiles?" Stiles says, "No, and I don't want to." The Nogitsune says, "When a samurai disembowels himself with his own sword to maintain his honor, but that's not the cut that kills him. The killing stroke is made by his Kaishakunin, who beheads the samurai with his own katana. Scott... Scott's your Kaishakunin. I'm going to make your best friend kill you, Stiles. And you're gonna let him. Because just like you, they're all going to die. Everyone touched by an Oni's blade. Unless Scott kills you first." Stiles says, "Why? Why are you doing this?" The Nogitsune says, "To win the game." Kira, Scott, and Liv get ready to fight. As they're fighting the Oni, Scott says to both Kira and Liv, "How is this happening? How are we in this place?" Kira says, "You're asking me? A month a go, I'd never even touched a sword." Liv says, "I did last night. Guys, I don't think this place is real, I think he wants us to think it's real." Stiles then picks up Kira's sword and turns it around to place it near his stomach. Liv cries out, "Stiles, no!" Scott says, "Stiles." Stiles says, "What if it saves you? What if it saves all of you?" Lydia says, "What if it's just another trick?" The Nogitsune says, "No more tricks, Lydia. End it, Scott. Let your friend fall on his own sword. Do it for him what he cannot do for himself. Do it, Scott. Be his Kaishahunin. Give into the game. You have no moves left." Stiles says, "I do. The Divine move. Stop fighting them it's an illusion. You have to stop fighting them. It looks real and it feels real, but Scott, you gotta trust me, it's an illusion." Scott looks at Liv and grabs her hand and they both walk towards the Nogitsune. They both get slashed, but they keep going. Kira's right behind them. As Scott tackles the Nogitsune through the door, they find out they're in the school. Liv goes back to help Lydia carry Stiles and Scott says, "We're okay. We're--" Scott gets cutoff by the Nogitsune throwing him into the lockers and then he knocks out Kira. The Nogitsune says, "This was my game? You think you can beat me at my own game?" Liv, Stiles, and Lydia back away from the Nogitsune and he says, "Divine move. Divine move. You think you have any moves at all? You can kill the Oni. But me? Me? I a thousand years old. You can't kill me!" Lydia says, "But we can change you." The Nogitsune says, "What?" Liv says, "You forgot about the scroll. The Shugendo scroll." The Nogitsune says, "Change the host." Stiles says, "You can't be a fox and a wolf." Scott then comes in and bites his shoulder and then Kira stabs him through the chest and fly comes out his mouth and Isaac traps the fly in the triskele box. Then the Nogitsune's body cracks and turns to ash. Stiles then passes out. Stiles wakes up and everyone sighs in relief and Stiles says, "Oh, God, I fainted, didn't I? We're alive. We're all alive?" Liv softly says, "Yeah. We're okay." Later, they find out Aiden's dead.

The next day, Liv's in room and Isaac knocks on her bedroom door and softly says, "Hey." Liv turns to Isaac and softly smiles and says, "Hey." Isaac says, "I came to say goodbye. You've changed my life and I wanted to say thank you for being a great friend. I'm gonna really miss you." Liv smiles and says, "We've been through so much together and I'm glad I could change your life. I'm going to miss you too, Isaac." Liv and Isaac hug each other goodbye. After Isaac leaves, Liv goes to Scott's house. Liv knocks on the door and Melissa answers it and sees Liv. Melissa says, "Hi, Liv. Scott's upstairs in his room." Liv says, "Hi Melissa and thanks." Liv goes upstairs and goes to Scott's room and sees Scott. Scott looks up and sees Liv and says, "Hey, Liv." Liv gives a tight lipped smile and says, "Hi, um can we talk?" Scott nods and says, "Yeah." Liv sits next to Scott on his bed and sighs. Liv doesn't now how to start this conversation and says, "Scott, I..." Scott notices her struggling and says, "I think I know what your trying to say." Liv looks at Scott and says, "You do?" Scott nods and says, "Yeah and I understand." Liv says, "It's just these few months I have lost many people I care about and I just wanna focus on my mental health." Scott nods and says, "Yeah, I get it. You've been through a lot. We're still friends though, right?" Liv smiles and nods, "Yeah, we're still friends, the best of friends." Scott smiles and gives Liv a hug and says, "You know if you need anything I'm always here." Liv says, "I know." Later at school, Liv's at her locker with Kira and Kira says, "I just wish I could say something to all of them, but I don't know how much space or how much time I should give them or you. And I know I'm still the new girl at school." Liv turns around to see Coach and Malia walking there way and Liv says, "Not for long." Malia looks at Liv and smiles and Liv smiles back. Liv turns back to Kira and says, "They'll come around and as for me I just need some time." 

So, Liv and Scott broke up, but their still friends. I want season 4 for Liv to focus on herself. I mean she had back to back boyfriends, so I think she could use a break.
