It was bright. Why was it bright? You didn't remember it being so illuminated. Your eyelids found themselves swiftly opening, facing the blinding white lights of the hospital ward.

OuCH

You closed them right back, using your hand to cast a shadow over your eyes. Bracing yourself again, you swung your legs across the bed and opened your eyes. If you didn't know any better, you might've thought that you were back at home.

What time is it?

You scanned the room, the only bright light being in the entrance next to you. Dr Otogi must've gone home, because there was no one there except you. You were probably supposed to take longer to wake up.

Oh well, I guess. What happened again?

You shook your head, determined to shake the fuzziness out of your brain. Your wobbly legs carried you around the ward, the only noise being your slow footsteps. Drapes covered old machines and stood underneath medical utensils, keeping them from being littered with bacteria.

This place is creepy when no one is around.

After looking around at the different shelves filled with medication, you found gauze bandages. Then, it struck you.

OH! I WAS SUPPOSED TO GIVE THESE TO JYUGO BUT THEN I-

You mentally screamed at yourself, facepalming as you remembered getting hypothermia. There's no doubt that he still wasn't treated by anyone, most likely in an effort to keep you out of interrogation again. You knew this, and yet. . .

I can't believe I fucked it up again.

Hot faucets found themselves gathered against your waterline, but you desperately brushed them away and grabbed the black gauze roll. This wasn't a time to fall soft, but-

You collapsed on the floor, holding the bandages and a bottle of peroxide. Holding them close to you against the wall, there was no stopping the tears running down your face. You thought about everything you should've done and how you could've changed it to be better- in a way that wouldn't have gotten Jyugo hurt. You shouldn't have irritated Ikkaku, and you shouldn't have ever talked about your opinion to someone that obviously wouldn't take it the same way.

Nothing you said was valid, in your eyes, if it hurt someone else. Especially if that someone was him.

You knew you had to thank Jyugo as soon as possible, but you couldn't bring yourself to get up off the floor. The clouds in your eyes wouldn't fade away, only instead got stronger the more you thought about him.

Why did you care so strongly about him, anyways?

Never once did you stop to consider the lives of the people around you, not until you met him; the person who only cares about the lives of others- cares about you.
