Maria's Donor

CHAPTER 1

She woke up feeling empty not just her 3 bedroom house with empty rooms and empty family portraits she felt empty inside. She walked into her shower and stood there as the warm water caressed her body. She got out and wore her plain black dress and blazer and headed to her office.

"Good morning ma'am,  for today's schedule someone is willing to buy the Hilton mansion and the family dinner." Her assistant said , she nodded and walked into her office. She connected to her air pods and began to prepare papers for the rental properties she owned, her eyes came across a pretty house in Mauritius, she had been saving up for a vacation home she would had with her non existent family.

She put the file aside and went back to work, she made perfect videos for the houses she would sell and that's what attracted people to them. Her assistant came in telling her it was time to give the buyers a house tour.

"Here we have the movie room it's a great area with an amazing sound system." She said with a smile , the couple nodded as she gave them the house tour. She showed them every nook and cranny in the house and told them why it was the best to suit their needs.

"We'll take it." The husband said with a smile , she nodded and handed them the file. He read threw everything and signed it finally.

"The kids are going to be so happy with this one, I don't think they'll want to move after seeing this." His wife said with a smile, Maria saw how they showed their affection to one another, she adored it and envied it at the same time.

"Thank you Miss Maria." The couple said as she handed them the keys.

"No problem have a great day." She replied calmly with a smile, she got in her Hyundai latest car and drove off, she saw families in the park having bonding time and looking so happy and there she was lonely. She played her music as she drove back to her office , she looked at the sperm donation building and shook her head.

"Don't even think about it." She whispered to herself she got out and walked into her office once again dissolved in work until her assistant told her she was an hour late for the family dinner. She took a formal dress out of a mini wardrobe she had in her office and changed, she walked out and quickly drove her parent vacation villa.

"Sorry I'm late." She said walking in and greeting her family with kisses and hugged and sat next to her cousin. Her family was never this 'rich' as many may call it her father was a struggling engineer in which many saw his specialization to be useless until him and one of his drinking buddies joined their brains and made one of the top selling electronic cars. That was their breakthrough and it's just been 5 years since the first one was released meaning college fees she worked double shifts just to pay.

"Its fine mija, anyways your sisters are here and they just told us they are both pregnant." Her mom said with a beaming smile , her older sister Hannah was on her fifth pregnancy and her younger sister Hero on her third.

"Wow congradualtions sisters." She said with same smile she wore for 27 years , they continued eating and talking about how their lives are going.

"You know my friend Mia , she and her boyfriend wanted a kid but he didn't want to marry her but she wanted his kid , so he ended being her sperm donor though they broke up." Hero said looking at Maria , Maria raised her eyebrows in confusion to the sudden change of topic.

"Before you came we were discussing about you mija." Her father said looking at her he was serious.

"We aren't getting any younger and we have seen through the endless blindates you've been on that it really isn't working." Her mother said looking at her.

"You really give them a tough time like they are some people in an interview, and you never had any second dates." Her brother chimed in and the whole table let put a hum of agreement.

"So we have thought critically about this and fasted for it too , we think , we are granting you permission to get a sperm donor." Her mother said looking at her seriously.

"This is a joke right?" She said looking at them and no of them laughed or acted like they didn't just have an intervention.

"We see how you are lonely Maria and how your happy when you play with your nieces and nephews and miss them when they leave,  so just put it into consideration and if you don't like it tell us and it's fine." Hannah her older sister said calmly.

"We know how you're extra cautious about who you talk to so , we composed a list of people we think you'd like to be the donor and those who are donors." Hero said handing her an envelope.

"Plus you can interrogate them all you want." Her brother said with a smile , she was speechless,  how long had her family been planning for this it doesn't seem like something that was just discussed but we'll planned.

"Papa." She said looking at her dad , he always sided with her.

"Maria I gave you time you had 25 and 26 to meet someone when you turned 27 it was a done deal I tried but I got outnumbered." He said looking at her , she didn't know how to respond.

"We have cleared your schedule for tommorow so you can meet the donors and interrogate them." Her mom said with a smile , she looked at her last back her cousin Rosalia who shrugged not knowing what to say.

"Excuse me." She said getting up , she began to speed walk to her car , her Cousin following behind.

"Maria wait." She called out , but she kept on walking quickly,  to her car, she began to search for her keys in her purse.

"Maria, trust me I know it's embarrassing to have your family blast you on having a kid but think about okay, it might be just what you need." Rosalia said looking at her with a comforting smile.

"Fine I'll sleep on it." She replied with a light smile and got in her car , she sped off to her house. She put her keys on the counter and took a red wine bottle and sat on her sofa, she began watching Me Before You as she drank the wine. She got in her room and stripped her clothes and got in bed and drifted in slumber.
