Chapter 10 [A Marriage]

[Location: Paris]

After a few months at Vienna, Granger returned to Paris. By the time he arrived, everything is silent, not noisy as usually when his father rulled France. He stepped out of the carriage and went to the Palace to see his old friends. He step inside the Palace as a citizen, not a noble family. The first person he saw is Alucard walking at the main hall.

Granger: Hey! Alucard!

Alucard: What the- Granger! Where have you been all this time!?

Granger: Calm down, Alucard. As you can see I'm fine.

Alucard: You look terrible dude. It must be hurt hearing your father was sent to prison somewhere in a small island and your title as a prince is stripped off.

Granger: Yeah, but I'm fine now. Anyways, where is Gwen?

Alucard: I didn't see her... But one thing for sure she was worried about you dude. Why did you disappear just like that?

Granger: "Sigh" I wanted to start a new life. A life without killing or being a noble family.

Alucard: But why? Isn't being a noble family is good? I mean you don't need to do anything yourself, and getting respect from others.

Granger: You don't understand, being a noble family is the worst thing in life. Perhaps I didn't tell you about my childhood.

Alucard: Tell me then.

Granger: As a noble kid, you can't be friends with anyone who doesn't have noble status. You can't eat what you want, you can only eat what they provided that day. I have been through a strict military training since I'm a kid. That why I choose to go to Land of Dawn. So I can do what I want to do. I'm lucky to meet with Gwen when I was a child. We became friends until I grow up and called back to France for war. I didn't had the chance to say goodbye to her. But today, all of my pain will go away, because I will confess with her as soon as I meet her.

Alucard: Are you talking about marriage? Why I will gladly help you! Anything that will make you happy! Wait here, I will try to find her.

Just a few moments after Alucard left to find Guinevere, Guinevere arrived at the main hall. She was shocked, she went outside but Granger turned around and saw her. He decided to follow her. Guinevere sitted on the stairs up to the Palace. Someone sitted beside her and she realized it was Granger. Meanwhile inside...

Alucard: Hey bro sorry I couldn't find- Wait, where did he go?

Back outside...

Guinevere: Leave me alone. I hate you. Do you know how much I worried about you!?

Granger: Yeah, I know I know it's my fault. I'm truly sorry Gwen.

Guinevere: You think a simple apologize is enough? You lied to me all this time. Telling me to go here and there just to avoid seeing you.

Granger: I'm sorry, I just don't want you to worry about me.

Granger hugged Guinevere and kissed her on the forehead.

Granger: Do you forgive me?

Guinevere: I guess soo...

Granger: Do you remember the ring that I gave you long ago when I'm off to war? I see you are still wearing it... Do you like it?

Guinevere: Of course! This is the only thing to remember you if you gone...in war...

Granger: Actually, it's a engagement ring.

Guinevere: Pardon? Excuse me, what did you just say?

Granger: Guinevere Baroque, will you marry me?
