♤Season 8, Episode 3♤

Angela lays her head on her hand, clutching her coffee like a lifeline as Webber starts the attendings meeting, "Okay, let's get started."

Mark sits next to her, booping her nose so she sits up and pays attention, "Yeah, let's do it. Got a lot of standing around to do today."

Webber nods, "He's right, people. Starting today, fifth-year residents rotate in as lead surgeons."

"We've alerted the morgue," Torres jokes, causing them to chuckle.

"Attendings, you will observe and stay silent. Offer help only when you absolutely have to," Webber directs.

Bailey adds, "Yeah, before you help them swim, let 'em sink a little."

"Or as I used to do in the army before Major Hunt here put a stop to it, throw them a limb and see what they do with it," Angela smiles, glaring slightly at Owen.

"You didn't-"

Teddy nods, "Oh, she did. But only to a soldier that was being extremely sexist and running his mouth. He started screaming like a little girl."

Webber clears his throat, getting everyone's attention, "The next order of business- effective nine am this morning, I have resigned as Chief of Surgery of Seattle Grace Merct West Hospital. I will stay on the surgical staff. I will turn this meeting over to the new chief of surgery, Dr. Owen Hunt."

Owen stands up, Angela's mouth agape, "I asked for coffee this morning, not piping hot tea," she whispers to Teddy, causing the surgeon to snorts.

"Thanks, Dr. Webber. I know this comes as a suprise to all of you, too. And I appreciate over the next couple of days, your help and your patience. Um, so now I have your call schedules, but I can have them dist-" Owen starts, showing a stack of papers.

"Wait. What happened?" Arizona asks.

"Why did it happen?" Mark continues.

Derek turns to Webber, "Is this the board? Are they forcing you to step down?"

Teddy and Angela share a smile before looking at Hunt, "Owen, you're the new chief of surgery."

"Nice," Teddy finishes.

Angela follows Owen, "So, what does Cristina think of the new title?"

He shakes his head, flipping through papers, "Uh, she is finding out with everyone else. I haven't told her yet. Not to mention, it's been...awkward between us lately."

"Why?"

"Um, I've got to go. First day and all that jazz. Talk to you later, Angela," Owen quickly escapes the conversation, Angela turning to a passing Teddy.

"He called me Angela."

Teddy hands her a candy bar, "What?"

Angela points at a retreating Owen, "He called me Angela. He only calls me by my first name when he is hiding something. What could he possibly be hiding from me?"
