Season 8, Episode 21

Angela hands Cristina an energy bar, "Okay, don't overthink, just standard protocol. Don't go all cutting edge, cause that makes you seem like a know-it-all," She calmly explains as they walk out to the van in the ambulance bay, "It's a simple test on proficiency. You've got that down when you don't over explain. Make sure you get a good amount of sleep, don't do what I did and party the night before, it doesn't help."

"You threw a party the night before your boards?" Cristina asks.

"I was 18, I partied hard. Now, get on the damn van and pass your boards with flying colors like I've taught you to do all year," Angela pushes Cristina to the van.

"Thanks, Dr. Karev, I'll kick-ass," Cristina promises.

She smiles, feeling Mark's arms wrap around her waist from behind, "They've got it. They'll pass,"

Angela laughs at Mark's positivity, "Some of them will. Yang will. Grey will probably. Avery will. Hopefully, Alex will. Everyone else is a little touch and go. They'll overstress or something stupid. But we trained ours right, right?"

Mark nods, the couple joining in on waving to the leaving van, "They'll be fine. How are you going to survive without Yang here?"

"Oh, crap. I forgot that this means Cristina won't actually be here to be my right hand. Ugh," She throws her head back before turning and burying it in Mark's chest.

"You're forehead feels a little warm. Did you catch whatever bug Sofia had?" Mark asks.

Angela whines, "Great. Just what I need. To get sick as my best asset is in another state."

Her pager beeps, "Hunt needs me on a trauma, see you later?" She gives Mark a kiss on the cheek before running into the ER.

Snapping on gloves, she immediately starts assessing the patient as Owen catches her up, "Uh, kid arrested twice in the field."

"Add an EKG to the trauma labs and get x-ray in here, stat," She calls out.

A woman enters the trauma room, "Oh, god. Ricky. What was he even doing in his car? He's supposed to be at basketball practice."

Bailey asks her, "Okay, is he allergic to anything?"

"No."

"Does he have heart problems?" Angela asks.

"No, probably driving too fast. We swore that if he got even one ticket, we would take that car away from him," She tells Bailey, loudly.

Owen calls out over her, "Hang a unit of O-neg and make sure the CT is ready."

She continues questioning as Bailey escorts her from the room, "Rick! What is happening? Why are they doing-What's going on?"

Angela and Owen share a look after she leaves, "Best thing about the army, no family questioning your every move when operating."

As they enter the OR, Angela and Owen argue, "We can't wait for you to prep an EVR."

"All right. Well, why don't you open him up, and I'll get him prepped?"

"You're gonna fill him full of blood thinners, his organs will bleed out before we get a chance to save them," Owen reminds her, "He needs damage control."

Angela doesn't give up, "Opening his chest will cause more damage in the long run than we can control."

Bailey backs her up, "She's right. This gives him his best options for recovery. It sounds like a good compromise."
