The next night you got ready for your second date with Barney. You and Barney got your friend to babysit Ellie so you had nothing to worry about.

Once you were ready, you had a little time to spare before Barney came to pick you up, so you decided to watch your favourite show. In the middle of the episode, you heard the doorbell ring. You shut off the tv quickly and paced to the door. You flattened out the wrinkles out of the dress you were wearing and opened the door.
"Shall we?" Barney asked, when you opened the door.
"Your eager!" You answered, stepping out of the house in reply. You noticed Barney hadn't gotten here by a regular taxi, but a limo.

As you and Barney were walking up to the car door, you asked,
"Why'd you get a limo? That must have been so expensive!" You said, a little shocked.
"I felt like it I guess." Barney said, opening the door for you.

You got in the limo and sat tight. Barney got in after you and sat close beside you.
"Ranjit, to the restaurant!" Barney said to the driver.
"To the restaurant!" Ranjit replied, enthusiastically as he started to drive to the destination.
"You look beautiful tonight, Y/N." Barney complemented you, looking you up and down.
"Thank you! You're not so bad yourself, considering you always wear a suit." You said. Barney just smiled. "Why did you kiss me yesterday? And why did you tell me you loved me?" You brought up. Barney's bright smile turned more into a look of embarrassment.
"Um... Well, I think that for the second one explains itself and the it's the same reason for the kiss. I love you." He replied. There was a long silence.
"Whoa- so he means it?! Did NOT see this coming! Okay, I think this has been a long enough pause... I have to think of something to say, quick!" You thought to yourself.
"Maybe this date was a bad idea. I'm sorry, Y/N. Ranjit, can you take us back to Y/N's place?" Barney said.
"No, no. Ranjit, is it?" You asked the driver. He nodded. "Okay Ranjit. Can you please take us to the restaurant."
"To the restaurant!" Ranjit said again, making a u-turn.
"You still want to go out?" Barney asked, confused.
"I do! I'm sorry for being so awkward about this. But I have to ask, are you just saying you love me because your Ellie's father?" You asked. This put Barney in the hot seat now. You had now arrived at the restaurant. "Thanks Ranjit. How much do I owe?" You asked.
"Always free for Barney and his friends, especially dates!" Ranjit said, brightly. You smiled and gave your thanks but payed him with a 20 anyway.

You and Barney got out of the limo and entered the restaurant.
"Table for two, Stinson." Barney said, stepping up to the counter.
"Right this way Mr and Mrs. Stinson." The waitress said, leading you to your table.
"Oh we're not-" You started to say.
"It's just what they do here. Don't mind it." Barney interrupted you. The waitress nodded, indicating he was right. You sat at your table and ordered.
"So about my question in the limo..." You said.
"Right, that is the case, somewhat. I love you because you're you. Which is, awesome, legendary, beautiful and so much more. You and Ellie are the love of my lives!" Barney told you. You were speechless and insanely blushing. "Gosh, I sound like Ted." You heard Barney mutter to himself. You chuckled to yourself so he didn't hear you.
"I love you too." You suddenly blurted out.
"Really?"
"Yeah. Your awesome, kind and good looking!" You said. "Also, when you said "Legendary", where was the "wait for it"?" You asked.
"How do you know about that? I've never said that in front of you before."
"Robin told me."
"Well, I don't need to "wait for it" anymore. I already have it." You looked at him confused as he smiled brightly. "You." You blushed yet again.
"That's so sweet! Can you say it the way you used to? I wanna hear it!" You said, curiously.
"Ellie is legen-wait for it... dary!" Barney exampled. You laughed a lot and he laughed with you. You spent the rest of the night hanging out on your date.

When he took you home, you invited him in.
"I had so much fun tonight, Barney." You said.
"So did I." He replied. There was a silence as you two stood in your living room. You slowly leaned into each other as your faces drew nearer and nearer. Next thing you knew, you two were kissing. You then broke apart and you both smiled. "Y/N Y/L/N, will you be my girlfriend?" Barney asked.
"Yes!" You replied. He then kissed you again excitedly. This was the best date ever.
