~~~The Sewerside Of The Barrens~~~
 After Adelaide, Richie and Stan finished breakfast, Bill knocked on the front door of Adelaide's house and Silver could be seen parked on the driveway. The four of them made their way to Eddie's house on their respective bikes. They cycled right past the houses on the street, past the trees, past the empty shops and right in between alleys for a shortcut.
 The late morning wind hit their faces and their hair became unruly due to the breeze. They finally arrived at Eddie's familiar house and they parked their bikes on the lawn and climbed down. Adelaide had her hair up with a claw clip so only the loose strands were obviously messy. She looked at the boys and giggled silently.
 Stan's front curls were a little parted, but the exact curls were still intact. It wasn't really surprising because Stan knew how to keep his hair well and neat. Richie's black bushy hair were standing up in all sorts of direction and he forcefully patted them down after climbing down from his bike. Bill's brown hair was quite short compared to Richie and Stan's but the front of his hair was loosely slicked back and he fixed it by running his hands through his hair.
 Adelaide stayed on the seat of her parked bike and Stan came to her and leaned beside it. They watched as Bill and Richie went up to the door of Eddie's house. Stan and Adeladie stayed outside, knowing that Mrs. Kaspbrak wasn't a fan of her son being friends with the two.
 Adelaide, because she was a girl and Mrs Kaspbrak didn't like the idea of his son hanging around a girl but Adeladie could find no romantic interest whatsoever in the boy. Stan, because he was Jewish and though she didn't want to admit it, Mrs Kaspbrak was bothered by it. If it wasn't for that, she probably wouldn't mind so much because Stan was a good kid.
 He was honest, responsible, smart. Truth was, she didn't like her son being friends with anyone, even Bill and Richie. She believed that Richie was a bad influence because she claimed that she could sometimes smell smoke off Richie, the kind of smoke that came from a cigarette.
 Richie did smoke, and sure, he could be a little bad but he wouldn't force anyone to do things they didn't want to. Richie liked smoking and he often smoked whenever he and the others were alone and sure, he'd offer them and sometimes Adelaide would take one or two drag, but nothing more. When she and everyone else would decline, Richie would just shrug and continued smoking alone. Even when Eddie would request for him to stop his smoking because of Eddie's asthmatic lungs, Richie would.
 You would think that it was odd for Mrs. Kaspbrak not to like Bill. He was responsible, too. He was smart and protective but Mrs Kaspbrak would justify her dislike towards Bill by saying that he was reckless and would often get her son in trouble with the bullies. That was far from true.
 Bill could sometimes be reckless, especially in the next months that were to come, but he was never the reason for trouble. Eddie had always been targeted by Henry Bowers and his gang. Eddie was small and asthmatic and everyone knew of his mother's loud claim to his PE teacher that Eddie was delicate.
