Honey
I sat up and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. The sunlight was streaming through the window, stretching out on the strawberries that smiled back at me from the bedspread. I focused on them as I willed myself awake, turning to look at Miko-chan, who was lying down beside me.
She was lying on her side, hugging Agi-chan to her chest. Her hair was draped across her face as she breathed softly in sleep, oblivious to the sun that was threatening her to wake up. I turned and pulled the curtains closed, the room darkening a shade.
I sat and watched Miko sleep for a few minutes, watching her form rise and fall under the blankets. I was happy that she was home and was close enough for me to protect. I was worried that I wouldn't have been able to while she was away, even though I knew I could jump on a jet to get to her if I needed to.
"Now you make sure Miko-chan doesn't wake up, okay?" I whispered to Usa-chan before I slipped it under the covers where I had been. I wanted to surprise her, but it would be ruined if she woke up too soon!
When I opened the door of Miko's bedroom, I froze when I saw Chika sleeping on the floor in front of it. He was sleeping with his head propped on his arm.
I smiled at how cute it was. Sure, Chika may act as though he hated Miko-chan for leaving, but the reality of it is, is that he missed his older sister.
I stepped over Chika carefully, then padded to the kitchen. As I had requested, the cook had taken that morning off to leave me to cook breakfast on my own.
Both Mama and Papa felt that it had been important for all of us to learn how to cook. They both knew how to and took the time to teach all three of us, and Uncle Akira had done the same with his kids. Sometimes, we would even have our lessons together, and that was so much fun!
"Good morning Takashi~!" I yelled when I saw my cousin slide open the door to the kitchen. "What do you think? Do you think Miko-chan will like it?"
"It's too much" Taka-chan said after taking a look at what I had made. Behind me, there were stacks of pancakes and waffles (that led to having eighty apiece), a stack of toast that I had cut into Usa-chan and Agi-chan shapes (Which I ended up with fifty), a stack of bacon that looked like a giant tower of jenga, and one giant omelet that had the face of Agi-chan in ketchup.
"You think so?" I pouted. "I just wanted Miko-chan to have a good breakfast"
From behind Taka, there was a loud thwack and the sound of Satoshi's voice filling up the hallway.
"WHY ARE YOU SLEEPING IN THE HALLWAY?! YOU SHOULD BE SLEEPING IN YOUR BED!" Satoshi yelled at Chika like he always does.
"Oops, looks like Chika-chan slept a little too long" I giggled before Chika could respond.
"WHO THWACKS SOMEONE IN THEIR SLEEP?!" Chika yelled back. I stepped out and walked down the adjacent wing where our bedrooms were.
"Shhh" I scolded, bringing my finger to my lips. "Miko-chan is still sleeping." Both of them turned white as if they had just now realized where they were.
