"Should I be worried that there is no one else here?" Sophie asked, raising a brow.

"We have eyes and ears everywhere." The Pyrokinetic answered.

Sophie felt a shiver run down her spine at that. She didn't doubt one word of what Fintan was saying.

Sandor had gone on a date with Grizel after quite little persuasion, surprisingly. He liked Grizel that much. Meanwhile, she had asked Flori for some alone time and the kind gnome agreed hesitantly. That was why she had chosen this time.

As of now, she didn't really care if the neverseen took her and burned her to ash. She would have liked that actually, but she still kept her distance from Fintan.

"So, ex-moonlark, why did you call your greatest enemy here? It's like you have a death wish."

He was right.

Was this really what she should be doing? She asked herself.

Nevertheless, she still took a deep breath, steeled her nerves and blurted out, "I want to join the neverseen."

If he was surprised, he hid it well. A blink was all he allowed himself to show.

"Why would we let you do that?" Fintan drawled.

"Because I hate the blackswan." She declared.

One look at his face told her that he didn't believe her. She honestly couldn't blame him, considering her past with the neverseen. She wouldn't believe herself either.

Heaving out a sigh, she told him everything. Told him about Biana's betrayal. Told him about everyone else's words, how they stung. With each word she said, it felt like a huge boulder had been lifted off her shoulders. Like a tight knot in her chest had loosened.

When she had finished, Fintan was staring at her with his head angled to one side, like he was assessing her, seeing her from a new perspective.

Finally, he called for someone. "Ruy, come here and check to see if she was lying!"

Ruy? How had she not noticed him?

When he emerged from the shadows with his hood still on, she nearly recoiled at how well he blended into the shadows.

Over the years, she had grown to 5 feet and 3 inches. Ruy was at least 6 inches taller than her. As his hand came into contact with hers, she could not help but flinch.

After 143 seconds (yes she counted), he pulled back and declared, "The girl is not lying."

Fintan's eyes narrowed slightly but he reached out a hand.

"Grab on."

"Wait, we're going now?"

Fintan rolled his eyes.

"Can I at least get some of my things and leave Sandor a note?" Seeing that he opened his mouth to object to the latter, she added, "I won't tell him, and I'll be quick. I promise."

Fintan sighed through his nose and agreed reluctantly.

That was why 5 minutes later, Sophie was standing in her room for the last time in Havenfield, reminiscing on the good memories she had obtained.

She had packed Ella and all her prized possessions in her purple backpack, the backpack she had come here with, and was now leaving there with. She had deliberately left behind everything her adoptive parents, the Vacker siblings, the Blackswan and Keefe had given her.

With her backpack slung over her shoulder and Iggy's cage in one hand, she told herself no regrets.

So she raised the pathfinder Fintan had given her begrudgingly, stepped into the light and let the warm feathers whisk her away.

Sophie Elizabeth Foster never looked back.

Hey! Hope you enjoyed it! I forgot to mention that I don't ship soruy in the actual books but I do ship soruy in soruy fanfics. Constructive criticism is appreciated. Thank you for reading and stay safe!
