[First Syphus HQ, 6:11 pm]

Deb, Wes, and 748 were leaning on the red Mercury Mountaineer, waiting for 591 to arrive. He had said a half hour ago that he would meet them here after setting the Second Syphus HQ on fire. But since then, there hadn't been any word from him. And they were beginning to get worried. Especially 748. 591 was a good friend of his, along with...it was getting close to needing to get more serum. Deb had two bottles for them, but 748 didn't want to take any unless he knew his friend was okay. But 748 was beginning to feel... off. He needed to take it soon, or he would suffer the consequences. But he was more concerned about 591.

Wes glanced over at 748. He had taken his mask off and was looking pale, with dark veins beginning to show. He needed to have a dose of serum, but he was insistent that he would wait until 591 got there. But Wes was certain that 748 wasn't going to be able to hold out that long.

Deb: 748, give me your phone real quick.

He handed it to her. She pulled up 591's number and sent him a text.

Deb: Where are you? Are you okay?

Several minutes passed, with no response. 748 was beginning to breathe heavily. Wes wasn't going to let 748 die because he wanted to make sure his friend was okay. Wes went over to Deb and pulled a serum out of her coat pocket. He went to the car, pulled out 748's mask, and refilled it. He went to 748, holding the mask out.

748 shook his head.

Wes: You need it. You won't be of any help to 591 if you die from not having the serum. Now take it.

748 was angry about it but complied. Once he had gotten some of the serum into him, he began to feel better.

Deb looked at the time. 6:18 pm.

She called 591.

He answered, but he didn't sound good. He sounded like he was gasping for air.

591: Are....you guys.....there?

Deb: Yes. But where are you?

591: I'm....not sure. Somewhere....in the desert. Close. I don't think... I ....can make it.

Deb: I'll send Wes. Hang in there! [Call ends]

Deb looked up.

Deb: Wes, 591 isn't sure he can get here. He said he's not far!

Wes nodded, took the phone, and the serum, and climbed into the Mountaineer. He raced off on a different road than what they came in on. He hadn't gone far when he saw a black Dodge pulled over on the side of the road. Wes parked the car and ran over to the Dodge. 591 was leaning on the steering wheel, struggling to breathe, and clearly in pain. Wes pulled the bottle of serum out of his pocket and took the mask that was laying on the passenger seat. He filled it with serum, opened the door, and helped 591 put it on. Several nerve-racking minutes passed before 591 could speak.

591: Thank you, Wes.

591's voice sounded cracked and beaten. Between what Nelson had done to the poor man, and the smoke, it was a wonder he could even talk. Wes let him rest a few more minutes, then he got back into the Mountaineer, and they both drove back. 591 got out, and 748 gave him a manly hug. Deb went over to Wes, held his hand, and smiled.

591 limped over to Deb & Wes.

591: Thank you.

Deb: You're welcome, 591.

Just as he was about to say something, a small ping, ping, ping, began to go off. It was coming from Wes. He yanked his sleeve up, revealing a blinking bracelet. 591 & 748 also revealed bracelets.
