Part 23

[2:53 am, Red Base]

He got ready. He prayed they were awake and ready. He set off three motion alerts. He had three messages for them tonight. He just hoped that the others would stay out of the way. But he had a feeling that they wouldn't. As he started to lose himself in thought, the door opened. They were here. It was 2:57.

[Quinn POV]

Quinn held his breath. Of course he was nervous. They all were. But they didn't have a big, heavy camera rig to try and run with. He shoved his thoughts aside and followed Matt, Sam, Woods, and Shennelle as they searched Red. They checked upstairs, Chill Records, and back downstairs again. As they went to the other stairs, Shennelle, Bailey, and Sam all gasped.

Sam: Whoa!

Quinn snapped the camera up at the turned out lights above the stairs, where the bold, red words stood out on the white wall. The letters were wet, and dripping. Quinn had a sinking feeling as he read the words.

What's wrong?

It could be a joking 'what's wrong?', or legit? Matt slowly led the group up the stairs, all of the girls jumping when Matt stepped on a really creaky part of the stairs. But Quinn couldn't give them crap though. It had scared him too.

They gave upstairs a quick lookover, then headed into the big warehouse. Quinn felt chills suddenly run down his back.

Woods: Matt...

Matt: Do you see something?

They slowly crept back towards the balcony wall, Matt in front.

Bailey: Find...?

Matt pulled a small green-screen away from the wall, and everyone gasped.

Bailey: Me!!

Sam: No, no, no, no, no, no!!

Find me

Okay...now this was really getting creepy.

Please, for the love of God, please let me get overtime pay. Please, Matt. You owe us this.

Quinn's thoughts were a jumble of these pleas, and horrifying theories of what the words meant. Or what might happen to them tonight.

Shennelle: We're kinda backed into a corner here...we should go.

Matt: Yeah, you're right.

They finished going down the stairs, then headed out the doors.

Bailey: Wait, that door is never closed.

Woods and Sam: Oh, my God!

Matt, Shennelle, and Quinn just stared in shock. There were words behind the mirror.

Sam: How...?

Matt: Can we take it down?

Woods nodded, then helped Matt carefully take the mirror down. The last message haunted them.

Lxxk closer

Under the x's, was a smile. It was one of the creepiest things Quinn had ever seen. An x'd out smiley face. Written in some red liquid that was still wet.

Woods: That's not spray paint.

Matt: Then what is this?

Bailey: Is that blood?

Shennelle: No, it would smell like blood.

Matt: Okay, I think that's going to do it for the night.

Sam: Yeah, I think we're all ready to go home.

Woods: I'm ready to sleep in my bed.

Matt turned to the camera.

Matt: If you guys have any ideas...Please.

He rubbed a hand over his face and Quinn cut.

[Watching from a corner]

He sighed. Not 100% how he planned it to go, but he still got the messages through. Of course there was interference, but it didn't affect the messages hardly. Other than "look closer". That one looked creepy now. Oh well. He did what he had meant to do, and that's all that mattered. He knew it was late. He closed his eyes, and went away. He would be back, later. And so would Project: 863.

Whether they liked it or not.
