Happy kept thinking about her, the blonde that lived inside his head, never leaving his mind. He kept wondering who she'd choose, if it'd be him. He hoped she would choose him. For two years now, he couldn't get her out of his mind. He didn't do this; he didn't get feelings for females. He fucked them and moved on but somehow Hanna Winston got under his skin, she was stained all over him.
He didn't know how she did it but she did and now that was nothing left to do about it. He loved her and he knew he always would. No matter what she said or did, forget her childish behavior... he knew how to deal with her-how to handle her. He didn't baby her or spoil her, he didn't put up with her whining, spoiled brat attitude.
Hanna pulled her phone out of her back pocket to check the time. 11:58 pm. She felt the butterflies in her stomach as she got in her car and started driving down the road. The phone's alarm started to blare as the clock stuck midnight and Hanna felt her stomach drop. She pulled into the dark driveway and stared at the house in front of her. There was only one light on in the house. Hanna made her decision and now it was time to face the music.
The blonde got out of her car, grabbing her small black flip phone. She shrugged her shoulders as she walked up the path. She knocked on the front door and waited for it to be opened.
When it finally opened, she shrugged her shoulders at the person staring back at her. He moved out of her way to let her in, she walked past him and walked straight toward the couch. She quickly checked the time to read 12:27 am. She noticed two missed calls from her sister-in-law but ignored them, closing her phone and shoving it in her pocket again.
She heard some noises coming from the kitchen and walked in there. "Guess we should talk, huh?" Hanna spoke softly. The man turned to look at the blonde beauty and nodded his head.
"Yeah I guess so." The man's raspy voice could always ignite a fire inside the blonde. There was just something about it. He walked closer to her, pulling her into a hug. "I know this is hard on you but I think you've known all along where you should be. Did you make your decision?"
She nodded her head. "I know what I want, with who I want. I technically made my decision but I just need to know some things first." She sighed, pulling away from the man. "You've said before you have no intentions to settle down, the wife and kids. You've said you're not made for it. If you truly believe that, believe that you can't even stay committed to one single person then why are you asking me to choose you and give up the idea of being married and having kids? But also it seems like you're asking me to just be ok with you sleeping around?"
"I also said before that if it was you, I'd stay committed to you. I did for three years before you came back." He nodded slowly. "If you want to get married, have kids then I will have to seriously think about the idea of kids but if you want to get married then ok, we can look into it."
She furrowed her brow, looking up at the man. "Just like that?"
"Just like that. If it's for you and with you then yes, just like that. Anyone else, no." He grabbed her chin, pressing a kiss to her lips before he put more space between them. "So, what'd you choose?"
She sighed heavily. "I need to go back to town for a bit. Ok?"
"Just answer the question, Hanna."
She moved to him, leaning up to kiss his cheek. "I will, in a little bit. It's almost one."
"Hanna."
She kissed his cheek again. "You will get your answer."
This one comes and this one goes
So here we are across the road
In whispers, in whispers
You say let it go, let it go homeTaking all our time we rode
Through the town where we grew old
Our stories and pictures
Oh, we let them go, let them go homeOh, I have seen your beauty grow
Where all this fades, you shine in gold
Our love will be legend
If we let it go, let it go home.Jax paced the living room, checking the time every few minutes. When the clock struck 1:00 am, he stopped pacing and checked the door once more before he made his way to the master bedroom. He stared at the boxes he had packed. Her things. He figured this is what would happen anyway. He wasn't angry though, he was just dealing with the hurt now. His own regrets, the way he treated her. The way he let her go without ever being honest four years ago.
He picked up his pre-pay and started to dial her number when he heard a knock at the front door. He stood up and walked out to the front of the house. Jax opened the door and saw the blonde beauty, her face tear stained.
"Hanna." He murmured as he grabbed her hand and pulled her into the house gently. He wiped at her tears before he stepped away from her. "Who is it?" The three most offending words in that moment.
Hanna could hear the defeat in his tone. "I'm sorry I pulled you into this mess. I didn't even realize it was a mess until it was too late." She looked up with fresh tears in her eyes. "Maybe we just wanted warm beds to come home to."
Jax sighed and ran a hand over his face. "It's not me, is it?" Jax looked at her, watching her wipe at her tears.
"I couldn't fight it. I found out he was there for me and we-- he. We became friends, we talked about everything, he came to my--." She sighed heavily. "He thought I wanted to--. I'm sorry, Jax. I thought the feelings would go away, I thought we were done."
He nodded his head. "I should've taken the offer when we were damn kids but I was a dumbass and thought like one. You should be happy, be with who makes you happy. If it's him, then go. He better not hurt you though."
Hanna got back to Happy's cabin just in time to see him getting on his bike, packing his saddlebag. She parked the sedan and got out, crossing the parking lot to the man beside his Dyna. "Where are you going?"
Happy ceased movement before he turned, feeling her hands land on him. "What are you doing here?"
"I couldn't just not go talk to him and leave him hanging." She murmured. "Where are you going?"
He nodded his head. "Well I didn't get a chance to look at wedding venues. Clay called a little bit after you left. I've gotta go to Tacoma, I'm being requested."
"I want to go." She shrugged as she looked at the cabin for a moment. "But I know, not for these runs. When will you be back?"
He chuckled softly. "I'll be back soon, hopefully tomorrow night or by Friday. It's not a long run, you gonna stay here?"
"Sounds good. I might, I don't know." She wretched his shirt in her hand, pulling him toward her before she leaned up and caught his lips in a gentle kiss. "I probably will, I have to get some affairs in order with my degrees and get back on track with business school so I will probably look into that."
He kissed her again, his hands snaking over her curves before stopping on her ass and he lifted her up with ease. "Yes, you do. You told me you would be working on that when you touched base in Charming four months ago." He nudged her head for her to tilt it before his face was buried in her neck and he moved over to her sedan, placing her on the truck of it. "Work on that while I'm gone, get your shit back together."
"Shit happens, there isn't a deadline though. I'm going to work on it and see about getting my name out there in Oakland. Closer to the city too." She murmured, her hands already snaking their way up his shirt. "You should go before you get into Washington too late for whatever business you've got there."
He smirked as he pulled away from her. "That's a good idea. Maybe that's where we will end up instead of Charming. Keep me updated about this." He kissed her again before pulling away from her and helping her to her feet. "I'll let ya know when I get in."
"I'm full of good ideas." She kissed him once more before she reached into the sedan's backseat to grab her purse. "Safe travels, be careful."
