Chapter 15: We Are Forever

Late August 2002

Jax took Hanna's hand in his as they walked through the door to Gemma's house. Gemma was waiting by the sink to greet them. As once as the door closed, Gemma had her arms wrapped around Hanna in a tight embrace. "Easy, Ma... Where's Clay?" Jax spoke softly, hoping for an answer.

Gemma let go of Hanna and looked at her son, "In the living room. They don't know anything except Opie found Piney at the cabin, no wounds, just dead." Gemma looked back at the silent woman in front of her and whispered an apology.

Jax pulled Hanna to his side and kissed her temple. "Do you want to go in the living room with everyone else?" Jax watched Hanna pull away from him and walk back outside. He looked at his mother and shook his head. "I need to be with her right now. Where's Ope though?"

Gemma pointed toward the living room and frowned, "He won't talk to anyone. Donna's upstairs, she fell asleep once she sat down so he just took her upstairs to your old room." Jax nodded his head and walked through the door. He saw his girlfriend sitting on the hood of Gemma's escalade and walked over to her. When he got in front of her, he pushed her crossed legs apart and stood between her legs with his hands resting on her hips.

"I don't know what to say or do to make this better, I don't know how to take the pain away but I'm here and if you want to talk, I'll listen." Hanna put her hands on Jax's shoulders, making him look up at her.

"You don't have to say or do anything, Jax... I just need you here." Hanna sighed heavily. 

"I can't think of a place I'd rather be." Jax spoke softly as he laid his head on Hanna's thighs. 

"You think JT and my dad are together up there? Having a few beers, laughing about stupid shit?" Hanna whispered, making Jax pick his head up and look at her curiously.

"They're probably forming another MC up there, building a new clubhouse." Jax laughed, watching a smile spread across his beautiful girlfriend's face. "There it is. That's what I've needed to see."

"He wouldn't want me to be sad, he'd want me and Ope to be happy and keep on going. I just don't know how to go through the day without talking to him... Even if he hid out at the cabin all day, he'd call me at some point and just talk to me. Guess I should've known something was wrong when he didn't call today." Hanna spoke softly, slowly pushing Jax away from her so she could get off the hood off the car.

Jax grabbed Hanna by her hips and pulled her into him. "I'm sorry, Hanna, for everything. I put you through so much and I never meant to do that... I just wanted you all to myself. I wasn't ready for all that but at the same time, I was. I'm sorry that it took me so long to realize what I was truly missing. I'm an idiot and I never knew what was right in front of me until now. I have the most amazing girlfriend in the world and I can barely keep her. I'm sorry, baby."

September 2002

Opie was pacing through the hospital room when he saw his sister and best friend walk into the room. "Too much shit is going on around here. Pops and now Donna's in labor..."

Hanna walked toward Donna and grabbed her hand. "I expect my niece before 2 o'clock! Don't play with me." Donna laughed and just shook her head.

"I'm trying here, but this girl's just as stubborn as her daddy is. Go beat him up about his stubborn ways." Donna smiled at her sister-in-law. "How're you doing?"

Hanna looked at Opie and Jax then back at Donna. "I'm getting through it. How's Ope? He won't really talk to me about any of it. Hopefully he's talking to you." Donna shook her head. Right as she was about to say something, a contraction hit her. Hanna grabbed Donna's hand, giving it a squeeze. Opie moved to stand on the other side of the bed, looked at Hanna and tipped his head toward the door. Hanna grabbed Jax's hand and pulled it with her to the door. "Come on, let's go find a doctor."

Hanna checked her phone to see it said 2:36, she looked over to where Jax was standing with Happy, Tig and Juice. She smiled at them before standing up from the uncomfortable chair and walked into the hospital room. She smiled at her brother and walked toward Donna. "You doin' ok?"

Donna shook her head. "I'm so tired and I'm not even at 10 centimeters yet. The nurse said I was at 8 an hour ago... Will you please go get someone?" Hanna nodded her head and walked out of the room toward the nurse's station.

"Congratulations, brother!" Jax hugged Opie as soon as he got in the room. Jax turned to see Hanna sitting on the bed with Donna, holding her new niece. She was smiling at the baby, whispering to her things that Jax couldn't understand.

"She suits you well, ya know. Maybe you guys should discuss having one of your own." Donna smiled at her sister-in-law.

Hanna laughed a little, "Yeah right. Those meds must still be going strong." Jax walked over to Hanna and eased the baby out of her hands. "And you're going where with my niece?"

Jax looked back at his girlfriend and flashed her one of his famous smiles before walking out of the door.
