Jax pulled into his driveway and saw the white Honda accord parked behind Hanna's car. He gave a questioning look to the car but continued to the front door. He opened the door and walked into his house to hear Hanna's laughter and a man's voice. It was coming from the kitchen.
Jax walked straight there, getting more annoyed with each step. He propped himself against the doorjamb and waited for his girlfriend to notice him standing there.
Hanna looked past her guest and straight at the angry biker standing in the doorway. She jumped up and ran straight toward him. "Hey baby! Where've you been?" Hanna swung her arms around Jax's neck but her arms soon dropped to her side as she backed away from me.
"Who's your friend?" The rough voice rang through her ears.
Hanna's guest watched the couple with interest. He stood up from the table the minute Jax spoke. He walked over to the two blondes and held out his hand. "Ben. Went to school with Hanna... when she didn't come back for the newest semester, I thought I'd make a trip here to see what was up. I'm really sorry for intruding."
Benjamin Reeves was Hanna's best friend through the four years that she was in San Francisco. They shared an apartment together. Jax had nothing to worry about here, but the man was jealous of anyone who got close to Hanna. The underlying fear that she could repeat the actions of falling for someone that she was awfully close to scared the hell out of him.
"I thought you were done with school. What is he talking about?" Jax turned his attention to the blonde beauty standing across from him.
"Technically I am finished, I just didn't kick up business school." Hanna reached for Jax's hand.
"I'm just gonna give you guys a minute... I'll be outside." Ben gave Hanna's arm a squeeze and smiled at Jax. He moved past Jax to the door.
"Who the fuck is that guy and why is he really here, Hanna?" Jax sat down at the table.
"A good friend of mine and if you can't pick up on it, he's gay. He's not gonna try to steal me away from you. Quit being an ass. I finished design school, I didn't sign up for business school yet, I came home instead." Hanna walked over to her boyfriend and picked up his hand. "I wish you would worrying about everything. It's fine, calm down."
Jax scooted the chair back and pulled Hanna into his lap. He kissed her temple and whispered an apology into her ear. "We're going on lockdown. That's why I had to leave you earlier. Did you go with Donna to the doctor's office?"
"What's going on now? Yeah, it's a girl... just like everyone said!" Hanna wrapped an arm around his neck.
"ATF are coming to town and we going on a brief lockdown. Immediate family only. We're going to make it look like we have nothing to hide. That's good, I better call Ope."
"Going on a lockdown is going to look suspicious, Jax."
"Not if we already on it when they get here, Hanna. That's why we need to do this now. So go pack a bag and send your friend off."
"Let me say goodbye to him first, go ahead and get anything we need together." Hanna kissed Jax's cheek and stood up. "I'll be back."
Hanna walked to the front door and opened it to see Ben and Opie standing there. "Hey Ope! I forgot to congratulate you earlier, I'm really happy for you & Donna!" Hanna turned her attention to her best friend and smiled. "I'm really glad you came to visit me and I promise to come visit soon but I completely blanked on this trip we're going on." Opie walked past his little sister and into the house.
"Hanna, what's going on? What's with all the new motorcycles and guys in leather?" Ben furrowed his brow.
"It's nothing, Ben. Family, that's all. Jax is my boyfriend, you knew who he was the minute he walked in. You've seen pictures of Opie, too. Nothing is going on, though. This is actually very normal for us."
Ben stepped toward the blonde. "Ok, if you say so... Is he treating you right? Sounds pretty controlling to me."
Hanna put her arms around Ben in a tight embrace. "Yes, he does. We're great. We're happy... I promise." Hanna's laugh made Ben laugh.
"Yeah, yeah. I thought you were happy before you left. As long as he's treating you right and you're happy then I can't complain. Just please, come visit as soon as possible! Me, Jamie and Jesse miss you so much!"
Hanna nodded her head and kissed her best friend's cheek. "I will, promise! Now get going before they try to kill you for thinking I'm cheating on Jax." Hanna pulled away from Ben with a grin.
Hanna watched as Ben got in his car, she waved at him.
"Have you heard from pops? He hasn't been at the clubhouse, lately." Opie asked his little sister as they walked into the clubhouse.
She shook her head and continued to walk to the back of the clubhouse where the dorm rooms were.
She reached the second door on the left and tried to open the door. Right as she started to jiggle the doorknob violently, a rough hand landed on her tiny hand and stopped her. "It's locked, Princess. Calm down."
Hanna looked at the Son standing beside her... Happy Lowman. As their eyes connected, her stomach started to do flips. Immediately trying to ignore the feeling she was getting, she tried to refocus. "Where's Jax?"
"Saw him in the garage. Go check there." His raspy voice rang through Hanna's ears. Hanna rolled her eyes and moved toward the entrance of the clubhouse.
Happy knocked on the dorm room door and waited for it to open. Jax appeared at it, wearing just a pair of jeans. "Wassup man?" Jax looked around the hall to see only the Tacoma Killer.
"She's looking for you, I sent her to the garage but that can only hold her off for so long." Happy cleared his throat.
"Thanks man. Don't let anyone in here, I want her to be completely surprised." Happy nodded his head and walked off toward to the main room. Jax closed the door and looked at the now spotless room. Everything was put where it belonged; something Hanna usually did for Jax when he was on runs. She hated messy places. She always kept their house clean and definitely kept their room clean, despite Jax tossing shit around. He just wanted to do this for her, something he knew would make her smile. He checked everything one more time before grabbing a shirt and walking out of the room. Right as he reached the bar, his girlfriend came storming into the clubhouse. She clearly had a bone to pick with someone.
"Where the fuck is Happy?" She stopped by Half-Sack and when he shrugged his shoulders, Hanna scoped the room out to finally spot Jax.
She walked over to him and grabbed the beer out of his hand. "Where were you? I have all these bags and nowhere to put them... What were you doing?"
Jax laughed and took his beer back. "Come on and I'll show you..." He grabbed most of her bags out of her hands and started walking toward the dorm room.
He nodded toward the door. Right as Jax dropped the bags to the floor, he stumbled back from the hug. "I was dreading this so much. Thank you."
Jax laughed, kissing his girlfriend. "You're welcome. I just thought about how much you do. Why were you looking for Hap?"
"No reason." She shrugged her shoulders. "Not anymore at least."
He nodded again. "You know he went nomad right? Went nomad for four years and settled in San Fran."
"Figured it had to be someone. Why not the Killer?" Hanna nodded her head firmly. "I guess he reported a lot back to you guys."
"We knew a lot. Some from reports back from him and other stuff acquired on our own." He sighed heavily. "What if that was us? The baby?" Jax stepped away from her again.
"Different situation, different story, different outcome. You know that, though." Hanna stopped moving and just stood still.
"Could've been us and you're telling me that it all depends on who, where, and how?" Jax ran a hand through his hair. Hanna nodded her head and looked at the floor.
"Why?" Jax sat back down on the bed.
Hanna sat down beside him. "Because it depends on things like that when you're thinking about pregnancy. If it's a slip up then you have to consider options."
