PETER PARKER was walking on the sidewalk, dissolving into the mass of people around him like a drop of water in a wild ocean. Nobody would have thought anything particular of the teenager with messy brown curls that wears a t-shirt, jeans and vest and had a backpack hoisted over his shoulder when they first look at him. Just a normal guy with a certain skip to his step of youthful enthusiasm.Peter was certainly excited. Earlier that week Tony Stark had invited him to work together at his lab in the Stark Tower on a new model for his suit. Peter couldn't wait to hear what kind of brilliant enhancements Mr. Stark had come up with for his Spider-Man suit. He tries to worm his way through the crowd, that was walking way too slow for Peter's enthusiastic pace. He had refused to use the subway or have Happy pick him up from school, deciding to walk and get some of his energy out.
He eventually got ahead of the crowd and decided to take a shortcut by walking through an alleyway. Peter pulls his backpack higher on his shoulder when he stops in his tracks. His Spider-sense was activated. Something was nearby. Something threatening. Peter quickly scans his surroundings while starting to doubt his decision of taking a shortcut to get to Stark Tower. The teen turns around to check if something was behind him, therefore missing the figure that jumps down from one of the buildings high above his head.
When his heightened senses took notice of the boots that landed on the asphalt he spins back to see a hunched figure with one hand on the ground to keep herself steady. Her lowered head raises and fierce blue eyes lock onto him. Peter gulps at the determination in them and fears that this lady was not there to have a conversation over some tea and freshly baked cookies. Much to his frustration Peter had his suit stored in his backpack and would not be able to get it on without being slammed to the ground and what more. So, he takes his time to study his attacker and find any weak spots that would give him some time.
Let's see. She had her long blonde hair up in a tight bun and a few locks framing her small, pale face. Her body was covered in a long sleeved, tight black suit with leather straps. Strangely enough, it did not seem like there was any armor build into her suit and Peter didn't know if that meant something good or something extremely bad. There was also something written on the back of her suit, but he was unable to read it as she was slowly rising from the ground. Now Peter was able to see the symbol that was right above her heart, but he had no clue what it meant. All he knew right now was that he was in danger.
"Oh, hey miss.. scary lady. How are you doing," He asks, making a saluting gesture to the woman in front of him. Or, as Peter thinks as he looks better at her, perhaps girl would suit better? "Hello, Peter Parker," she speaks calmly, sounding threateningly. "H-how do you know my name," Peter asks in confusion. The girl smirks coldly in a superiority that makes him question his chances to win. Unless she was extremely cocky for no reason of course, but Peter was not so sure of that.
"I know a lot about you," she claims as she takes a threatening, slow step in his direction. It caused him to take a step back to where he came from. "Well.. considering you know so much about me, would it not be polite to return the favor," Peter rambles, trying to stall for as much as he can. The suit clad lady chuckles darkly. It sends a shiver down Peter's spine and makes him regret not wearing his Spider-Man suit beneath his normal clothes. "I am Agent Rogers.. and you are my next target."
With that said, the girl lunges forward.
Peter ducks backwards, rolling over the ground to escape the attack. The woman had drawn a knife that was now buried into the ground where he just stood. "Awesome," he mutters to himself, but he did not have much time to fawn over her skills as she set in her next attack. She jumps towards him, two daggers drawn as she tries to slice him open. Peter dives to the side, but her blade nicks his shoulder. He glances quickly at the wound, but he didn't have enough time to process everything. Agent Rogers was incredibly fast and, unfortunately, extremely determined to kill him.
He meets her eyes and the fierce glow that was glimmering in them. Then he notices his backpack lying on the ground behind her. The backpack with his suit and webshooters. If he can just buy enough time he must be able to get his bag and his weapons.
So, he did something he was taught by Natasha during her tutoring and jumps forward instead of away. He ducks below her arm and surprises the assassin. Peter slides over the asphalt and reaches for the handle of his bag. He rips the zipper open and grabs his suit. Before the assassin had time to regain herself, turn around and launch at him another time he had put his Spider-Man suit on.
Finally they were on even grounds.
He uses his webshooters to send webs flying in her direction, but the girl gracefully ducks and jumps around them and comes closer. When she comes closer, Peter backs down. It was like an intricate dance that they both somehow mastered without actually practising together. All Peter had to do was try to keep up with the pace that the assassin was trying to fasten by responding as quickly as she did. Seems like an easy task when put forth like that, but the reality was that this dance of moves, of attacking and backing down, were seriously taking a toll on Peter. He was getting tired while trying his best to keep up, while the assassin didn't even seem to break a sweat.
His tiredness also made way for mistakes. One time he was not quick enough to jump away from her sharp daggers and the blade cut straight through the suit that Mr. Stark made him, like a knife through butter. He was stunned to feel the blade nick the skin of his abdomen. Peter jumped away before she could stab him and used his webshooters to bound her to the ground. He was panting heavily, trying to regain control while the A.I. build into his suit, who he named Karen, was droning on about his vitals.
But the webs didn't stop the assassin for long. She cut herself free with the help of her daggers. Her perfect blonde bun had become messy during the fight. Her leather clothing was ripped at spots and blood and filth was stuck to her pale skin. However, her piercing blue eyes show a determination that Peter could appreciate and fear at the same time.
With an angry grunt she cut the webs loose and launches yet another attack. Peter rolls backwards, but the girl did something unexpected. Apparently she had taken notice of his habit to roll or dive away and had jumped on top of him. They scuffled, but eventually she managed to wrestle him down on the asphalt.
She draws one of her daggers and stabs it into his chest. Peter can feel the blood errupt from the wound, especially when she pulled the blade out and stabbed him a second time in the abdomen. He was losing blood and energy rapidly, but Peter managed to raise his hand just enough and blows a spidernet out of his shooters. It hits the assassin full on the front and launches her into the air, nailing her down on the brick wall. She was trying to use the daggers in her hands to cut herself free, but the web covered her entire body and rendered her motionless.
This gave Peter a little time to recover. He used his webbing to make a gauze so he could cover the wounds and put pressure on them. Peter knew this was not a long term fix. He had to go to the Tower. He had to find Dr. Banner and get treatment for these wounds which would be lethal if he did not get help soon. He throws one last look at the bound woman who was trying to break free from the webs that keep her contained, but then he puts his normal, every day wear back on and rushes as fast as his wounds would allow it back to Stark Tower.
