SHE WAS standing perfectly still on top of a hill

SHE WAS standing perfectly still on top of a hill. The girl had been there for over four hours but she had not moved an inch. Eventually the black of her Scorpion uniform had blended with the shadows of the forest behind her.

But then her senses caught a new sound in her surroundings. She remained calm as she noticed a presence behind her. She neither moved or jumped up when she heard rustling of the tree leaves above her head. A few moments later something jumped down from the branches and landed besides her.

"Coast is clear. There's no meanie in sight." Victoria shakes her head lightly at his use of words, but there was a smile on her face she couldn't surpress if her life depended on it. "My hero," she drawls out her words teasingly. Peter takes the mask of his suit off. He turns around and gives her a peck on her cheek.

His quick gesture made Victoria highly aware of where they were. She scans their surroundings, but it wasn't cameras that she was worried about. "Peter, I told you. Not in public," she scolds him in a hushed tone. The agent was still looking around for anyone who might have seen them. Or, one person specifically.

Peter throws her a joking, borderline flirtateous wink. He knew what she was worried about. For the past four months that they had been dating in secret he tried to talk it out of her head, but the girl could be real stubborn if she wanted to. "Your dad's not gonna find out, you know?"

"How do you know for certain when his best friend is chaperoning us right now," she hisses softly. As if he heard them talking they heard someone approach.

"What are you two mumbling about?"

The two teens turn their heads to meet the questioning look of Bucky Barnes. He raises an eyebrow at the two of them while leaning with crossed arms against a tree. He looks like he was waiting for an answer.

Victoria turns the corner of her lip up slightly in a charming manner. "Peter and I were just discussing our tactic on infiltrating the house," she responds calmly. It was almost scary how smoothly she could make up a lie on the spot. Peter was standing quietly by her side, nodding along awkwardly.

Barnes observes the two teens carefully. There was something going on here, but he wasn't exactly sure what. But he knew this was not the time or the right place.

He approaches the teens and stands in between them. He was about a head taller than them and looks rather intimidating with his uniform and metal arm. "And what tactic have you thought of," he asks calmly. His eyes were cast on the house down the hill.

Victoria was thankful that he did not question them any further. She didn't like to lie to her father's friend, who was almost like an uncle to her. But then, she also knew it was best to keep her relationship on a low pit for now.

It was no surprise to anyone that her father was rather old-fashioned when it came to boys and girls. He didn't find it 'appropriate' if Peter and her were alone in a room without any supervision and he was protective of her. It was a whole change from her upbringing at the Agency, where it felt like no one cared about her life except Dr. Hyde.
