STEVE FEELS his heart drop to his stomach when the Doctor announced they should start the erasing process. He was almost certain what that would mean and he was terrified.

All the Avengers were standing around a circle of holographic screens that would show what Victoria sees, sound waves of what she heard, a screen that finds the records of people they saw or heard with a pop-up of Doctor Hyde on it and other things that went on in the Compound. Which was not much, since all Avengers were in Tony's lab.

"They are going to erase her memory," Nat says, voicing what the others knew but couldn't say out loud. Steve feels a hand on his shoulder and glances over his shoulder. It was Bucky, trying to give him comfort.

One of the scientists glances at his colleagues and takes a hesitant step forward. "Doctor, I would not dare to oppose your orders, of course. But.. are you certain? The erasing process might do more harm than good to her mind." He speaks carefully. The scientist knew he was treading dangerous territory here.

Doctor Hyde clasps his hands together behind his back. He let his eyes wander from the pod with the unconscious girl to the group of lab workers behind him.

Steve stares at the screen that shows Doctor Landon Hyde. He had known the young man's father. Anselmus was one of the scientists present when he was injected with the Super Soldier Serum. He had also done a follow-up with him for which he drew a bit of blood. At the time Steve didn't think much of it and didn't give the fact he never received results any thought, but now he guesses that from the DNA in the cells of that sample he made Victoria.

The Doctor smirks. It was a truly evil sight. He had no remorse for his past actions, nor for those he had yet to commit. "I am not concerned for her mind. Unlike you, she is strong.. and capable. What I do not want is for her to confuse where her loyalties lie." He slowly walks away, but lingers by the side of the scientist who spoke up.

He leans down to whisper in the shorter man's ear. But even though it was a whisper, the highly sensitive earpiece was able to catch the sound after Tony dialed the intensity up. "I'd advise you to comply, Doctor Terron. You wouldn't like the consequences if you didn't. Or more.. your wife wouldn't."

Doctor Hyde leaves the room. Outside he was joined by guards that waited for him just behind the door. The other lab technicians follow after him and shut the door with a loud bang. Only Doctor Terron remain in the room.

The man slowly approaches the pod. The Avengers still weren't able to see through Victoria's closed eyes, but they could see the silhouette of a man in a lab coat in their imagination.

He starts to mutter softly, his voice full of grief. It was very much clear that he did not want to do any of this. He tried to stall as much as possible. "I am very sorry, Miss Rogers. I am just following my orders. But I do hope you were able to find your father. Perhaps.. one day he will come to save you."
