"You got another detention?" Leah repeated after I told her what had happened.

"Yeah, but the sub was a bitch to me. She tried to get me to take off my hood and beanie." I explained.

Leah raised an eyebrow at this.

"You know why I don't like to take them off Lea, so don't give me that look."

We sat down together underneath the shade of the tall oak tree and watched the grade 7s and 8s kick around soccer balls. Leah pulled out her lunch and started to eat her vegemite sandwich.

I scrunch my nose as I get a whiff of the salty smell. It may be a popular food here but I was never a fan of marmite and vegemite is just as bad if not worse.

"What are you eating for lunch?" Leah asked, her mouth still full of her sandwich.

"Mm, I forgot my lunch but I'm not hungry anyway," I shrugged.

Leah frowned at this. "Well did you have breakfast?"

"Yes, and has anyone ever told you that you worry too much?" I said back.

Leah rolled her eyes and with an evil grin she waved her sandwich in front of my face making me screech and fall back, both of us laughing.

It felt good to laugh again. I didn't do it much but I am now starting to come to terms with Mum's death even though it's hard.

The heat at lunch was sweltering and the lack of food was really getting to me. I had to keep drinking water to one; cool down and two; mask the hunger.

We had sport last and I really didn't want to do it, not that I ever did. I would never bring my uniform apart from sometimes where I would wear leggings or trackpants instead of the shorts which we were supposed to wear and a jumper. I was good at sport and used to enjoy it, especially swimming. I liked the burning sensation in your muscles after a good workout and how your lungs felt that they were on fire. It was comforting almost.

Now I regularly 'forget' my uniform to not do it and most of the time it works. The teachers have gotten used to it and it tends to end me up with masses of uniform detentions but I don't care. Of course, it didn't help with Mia and Charlotte throwing insults at me about being fat but I didn't care.

It didn't stop me from listening to them however and a small voice in the back of my head got bigger and bigger agreeing with what they say every time they said it. I was definitely not a big girl; in fact, I was quite petite. 5'7" and skinny but with wearing baggy clothes people can't notice how I have slowly turned to bone.

The bell for end of lunch rang out and I internally groaned, not wanting to go to class.

"I can't promise I won't punch either of the bitches in their faces but I can try and trip them up," a slight smirk rested on my face.

Leah giggled lightly at my comment. "If you trip them please record it, I would pay good money to watch it on repeat."

I grin at her and we walk our separate ways. Me to sport and Leah to Chemistry.

The teacher was already explaining what they would be doing in the lesson by the time I walked in.

"Ah miss Sharp, how nice of you to join us," He looks at the watch on his wrist. "5 minutes late and not in uniform." He tuts slightly while shaking his head.

I was used to that look so I brush it off.

I give him a grin. "I do my best sir."

I go to sit down when all of a sudden, I trip over someone's leg and come crashing to the ground.
