Now the hard work begins. How do I use this new-found knowledge? I know I want to travel but wonder where my dreams will lead me.

Diary Entry – Monday 3rd July
Well I have narrowed it down and have resent my CV with qualification documents, will just have to wait now; on an interesting note, during my research, I found out that Big Hit Entertainment have been working with a band since 2012/13 and they are about to potentially conquer the world (now that does sound interesting!)
7 guys – YES 7!!! (This is not unusual in K-pop) All as cute as they come, making music in South Korea since 2012/13. They debuted on 13th June 2013. They're called BTS, (Bangtan Sonyeondan) Rap Monster, their leader, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V & Jungkook – How could I have missed this!!!??? Well you were immersed in getting a degree!?! But still...
They have been touring, including the US and Australia on their travels. I just ordered a copy of their album, Wings, must find out more! I asked a few of my friends, but it appears I was not the only one whose ears had not been blessed. But I should've known, My bestie knows them and loves them, especially the one called Suga, one of the rappers, I scold her for not sharing; but have to agree he is damn cute! In fact, they all are. They must be really good, as they have just won top social artist award at the 2017 BBMAs. How come America got there first!
Diary Entry – Friday 14th July
Well today has been a good day so far! My copy of Wings arrived this morning and I have it playing on repeat. These guys can really sing and rap; and what powerful lyrics. They are not a manufactured conveyor belt group, as is a preconceived idea of KPop; and they write and co-produce their own songs.
Wow! The title track is truly amazing!
피 땀 눈물 (Blood, sweat & tears) a very powerful song! OMG! I LOVE THIS ALBUM! And I have just discovered the video... phew, I need to fan myself! Jimin is <3 <3 <3
I have also had responses from some of the applications I made AND TWO INVITED ME TO INTERVIEW! IN SEOUL!! I can't wait to get back to South Korea; I had a blast during my placement year.
Diary entry – Friday 4th August
It's very early, but I am standing in departures at Heathrow waiting for my flight to be called. The flight and accommodation have been paid for...my head is spinning; Wish me luck! That's my flight call, see you on the other side.
Diary entry – Sunday 6th August
Well, I completely lost yesterday. I only laid down for a nap after my shower!...Man! Jetlag is a killer...And I only just managed to make it down to breakfast today. After eating I will take a wander to find out more about this amazing city of Seoul. I only visited once briefly during my previous 10 months in South Korea. I was based in Gwangju in the south last time I was here.
Hundreds of photos later, with aching feet, I step under the shower back at my hotel and get ready for some food; although my palate has already been tickled with some amazing tastes today – street food in Korea – just...WOW!
I have now scoped out the first of my meetings, know exactly where to go and how long it will take to get there. It is within walking distance of the hotel (that was extremely nice of them).
Diary entry – Monday 7th August
Today is the day...My first Interview is at the International Headquarters of Hyundai Engineering Co. I check my watch and see that I have arrived with plenty of time to spare. Now remembering my degree on Korean language and Culture... OMG! Why am I so nervous?... I got this!
I enter the building and speak to the young lady behind the big imposing desk in front of me, who stands to greet me.
Bowing slightly, as a sign of courtesy, I introduce myself and state my business:
안녕하세요 이름은 ****** ****** (hello my name is) 오늘김씨와만남이있어요. (I have a meeting today with Mr Kim)
She bows slightly and asks me to take a seat in the waiting area.
The meeting went well...I think...will have to wait and see?! And I still have another interview, but not until next Monday. When I explained to Big Hit that I was travelling to Seoul this week, they kindly offered me accommodation from Wednesday, when I was originally due to leave, until 2 days after my interview.
With my current hotel paid for until Wednesday, I will make the most of my next 2 days. Thank goodness the ticket was open return, so I have extended my stay.
Diary entry – Wednesday 9th August
I moved to the hotel that Big Hit had booked for me today; Wow! another swanky place. I will enjoy this; apparently, I have full use of all the amenities FOC during my stay.
My interview for the internship will take place on Monday morning – time to explore some more. I have also managed to arrange a third interview for this Friday. Keeping my options open.
Whilst I am here, I have found out a lot more about those 7 gorgeous boys and now I could be working for their management company! There is so much information online about them and you cannot miss them on the streets of Seoul. They are winning awards left, right and centre! And I am not surprised. I am definitely going to become an ARMY
Diary entry – Monday 14th August
I think my interview was a complete success! I even met Mr Bang himself. He was very impressed about my knowledge of South Korea and he actually said my Korean was excellent – I'm afraid I may have blushed at that point!
I definitely would like to work for them, they have a very hip vibe about the whole company and I will get to enjoy more of this beautiful country.
Diary entry – Wednesday 16th August
I didn't have to wait long, first thing this morning I received a job offer from none other than BIG HIT! They will arrange to delay my departure tonight with the airline and want to meet again with me tomorrow morning.
Diary entry – Thursday 17th August
It's now sinking in. I'm going to be working for Big Hit Entertainment on an initial 12-month contract. They seemed so impressed with me! I am to become an Executive Assistant Manager and also teach the trainees English. They feel it would be advantageous for the members to be able to converse with more fans across the globe!
Of course, RM already speaks perfect English. I discovered this when I read it online that he taught himself by watching the show Friends and he was a gifted student, proficient in languages. He also speaks fluent Japanese – why do I have a sudden pang of sadness when I learn this?
Still, there are 6 more members (and lots of trainees) – shame they are not even in the country at the moment ☹️
I was asked if I had heard of BTS. I had to be honest and tell them that it was hard to miss them - as they were all over the internet, if you knew where to look and had an interest. I found them to be 7 very talented boys.
Arrangements have been made. I leave Sunday, time for me to go home and pack my life up to spend a whole year in Seoul, the company will find me a suitable place to live and sort out the contracts. They hope I can be back in Seoul within the month – I am going to be spending my 23rd birthday in KOREA. But before I leave, I am invited to dine with my new employers' tomorrow night! – I was very surprised!!!
Diary entry – Friday 18th August
I have just got back from dinner, I have met some wonderful people and spoken with Mr Bang at length regarding my role as Assistant Manager; as this is a relatively small company at present there are not many trainees, but I will be responsible for attending to their needs and their English improvement. Apparently, I am considered to not become as much of a distraction for the members, as a pretty Korean intern would be. I don't meet Korean beauty standards ☹️. I am slightly wounded by his statement; I understand, but it stings a little nonetheless!
