Super soldiers

"BUCKY!" I called at the tv began to play
I watched spitefully as the new Captain America ran into frame
I could tell already he was a power driven guy, and that he was NOT Cap

Bucky sat down beside me as we watched the interview together

"Ladies and gentlemen, your new Captain America" the hostess called
"Good morning America" the new Cap said
I watched disgusted as the two sat down
"Thank you so much for coming. This has got to be fun though, coming back to your high school since so much has changed?" the interview started as Walker waved to someone behind the camera
"John the first thing I think everyone wants to know is, what is it like being Captain America? Do eagles fly over your head wherever you go?" She asked him and he chuckled
"Yes. Yes that and flags start majestically waving in the wind" he joked
"And how's the tour been? I know they did a big roll out for you, right?" She asked
They gave him a tour? Steve had a tour but that was so he could go to War
"It's been the biggest honor of my life. I'm just a little shocked, how did a guy like me" he answered but was stopped
"Wait, a guy like me, somebody is being a bit too humble. For those of you who aren't familiar with Johns resume. John Walker, first person in American history to receive three medals of honor. Ran RAF missions in terrorist and hostage refuge. The government did a test of your body in MIT and you tested off the charts in every measurable category, in speed, strength, wit" she listed his resume for the world
I tilted my head, I can accept that he's a good soldier
"Look, here's the thing. I'm not Tony Stark, I'm not Doctor Banner" he said
At that mention of my family I felt a stab, he doesn't even know them
"I don't have the flashiest gadget, or super strength or the ability to create fire. But what I do have is guts. It's something Captain America's always had, needs to have and I'm going to need every ounce of it. Because I've got big shoes to fill" Walker said
I glanced at Bucky briefly, but he was staring at the screen not even mentioning that Walker commented on my fire wielding ability
"Did you know Steve Rogers?" She asked then
I snapped my head back to the screen now, I want to see this part
"Well I was at West Point when Steve came back from the ice and I followed his career very closely as an Avenger. I want to model my work after him" he nodded
"Youve wanted to meet him?" She asked
"I liked that what I was doing helped people to feel safe. Steve Rogers was the kinda guy that could do that, to give hope. Even though I never meet him, he feels like a brother" He said calm

Anger boiled over me, as it did to Bucky
This...guy, is here calling OUR brother, his brother. He's never meet him, just read about him.

He isn't Captain America, I decided

We finished this ridiculous interview before I switched off the tv, not being able to watch any more of it.
I stood and looked at my silently fuming husband
"Let's go see Sam shall we?" I asked

"Oh come on, look he didn't realise they'd do that Buck" I tried to reason for Sam
"Doesn't matter. Should've given it to us then" he shook his head and loosened his fingers on my hand
"Hoy! You can't let go because I'm right" I said offended that he was trying to pull his hand from me
"I'm not I was fixing my hand. Besides he's there" Bucky pointed and I saw Sam
"Fine" I sighed

"Shouldn't have given up the shield!" Bucky called to our friend
"Good to see you too Buck. Ash" Sam replied walking down the stairs a bag in hand
"Hi" I smiled
"This is wrong" Bucky continued as we followed
"Hey look I'm working, so all this outrage is going to have to wait" Sam snapped back
"You didn't know that was going to happen?" I asked wanting confirmation and proof
"No of course I didn't know that was going to happen. Do you not think it broke my heart to watch them March him out there and call him the new Captain America?" Sam said
"This isn't what Steve wanted" Bucky told him
"Oh my g...." Sam rolled his eyes
"What do you want me to do? Call America and tell them I changed my mind? Yeah right. Great reunion buddy, be well" Sam said and patted his back
"You had no right giving up the shield Sam" Bucky said and I sighed
"Hey, listen this is what you're not going to do. You're not going to come here in your over extended life and tell me about my rights. It's over Bucky, besides I have bigger things to deal with now." Sam scolded
"What could be bigger than this?" Bucky asked
Sam pulled out his phone
