Ellie Kate Back , first year

1st year

"ELLIE!" mum's voice rang as she whipped the covers off my peaceful sleeping body. "mum!" I moaned at her , eyes still closed with my body curled into it's self for warmth, with my left hand searching for the cover. "Ellie! You better be getting ready!" my mum's voice called from what now seems the landing. I huffed and I sat up in bed , rubbing my eyes. I walked out my room ,still in my oh so comfy pyjamas, I reached the bathroom to fine the door locked. I knocked , "just a minute !" my sister's voice sang out from inside the bathroom. I leaned against the wall next to the door until she came out which took nearly half an hour. as I was waiting at the top of the stairs the letter box went , I looked down to see some letters in the letter box. I rushed down , I flipped through them I search of a special one for me , as you see my sister got a letter to go to this magical school which is so cool , that I am a bit jealous of her but I hope that I get a letter. looking though the letters they are all addressed to my mum or one of my brothers . I huffed and dropped the letters on the little side table . I am all ready 11 and I have not received a letter yet.
I walked back up stairs and brushed my teeth then got ready. it was a boring day my auntie , uncle and two cousins where meant to come round today but for some reason didn't , which obviously annoyed my mum but she wouldn't admit it .
just before I headed up to bed I saw a white corner of something pocking out the letter box i pulled at it to reveal the letter I had been waiting for. ---
I couldn't sleep last night I was too exited. I had all my things packed and my uniform on a hanger , hanging from the top of my wardrobe. I set my alarm and tossed and turned all night . until ... BUZZ! BUZZ! my alarm went off. I shot up , a bit to fast as my vision blurred and my head went dizzy . I smiled , jumped out of bed and rushed to my mum's room . bouncing on her bed waking her up. " Ellie , stop you know that waking me up like this makes me feel sick." I frowned and sat down on the bed . " sorry..." I whispered before leaving closing the door quietly . so I ran into Ellen's room she was already awake just sitting on her bedroom floor in front of her mirror doing her hair. "hello, what you doing?" was all she said not looking at me but at her self in the mirror. "just really excited to be able to go to Hogwarts ... oh and you will be there with me, as I learn cool spells , potions and make friends with all the magical animals." my cheeks started to hurt from my excitement . Ellen smiled at me and said " well you better get ready , don't want to be late." I smiled and rushed to my room . I opened my lilic curtains letting the sunshine in , I went and brushed my teeth then got dressed. I had all my things , I just need to pack my uniform. and Albert , my teddy bear that my grandma bought me when I was 2 or 3 , I can't sleep with out him. I am a bit nervous about talking him as what if something happens to him or people make fun of me for having him , but non the less I will bring him. once all packed , I walked down stairs leaving the bags in the passageway so they will be easer to get when leaving . my house is small , its a council house the passageway is a small square shape ,that could fit two or three people in, just a small space separating the front door from the stairs , the living room is half of the down stairs floor making it long and rectangle shape we have a small flat screen TV that we have had for years and same goes for the two 2 seater sofas , we have a fireplace which has gold like tinted mirror surrounding it and a big old mirror hanging above , the kitchen is long and narrow making a small one person runway between the cabinets and worktops, then the dining room just fits the 6 seated dark wooden table and chairs in , the dining room is the coldest in the house, , but its my home and I am sad to leave but I will come back for holidays and when we are off in the summer. I sat with a sigh on the sofa , with a plate of toast in hand. I ate all of it but now I feel really sick , like I am going to through it all back up . before I knew it my mum was off to work and Ellen had come down the stairs with her red/ginger hair in a side fishtail , some black eyeliner and some bright pink gloss. oh she is so beautiful I am very jealous of her , as she is smart , friendly , nice and beautiful and her body is perfect . where I am just known as the younger sister or the little sister with a cubby body and frizzy hair.
once it got to the time to leave I put Lily to bed and made sure all the doors where locked , then we walked down the road until we reached the bus stop .
On the bus a couple stops down my best friend Tiffany came on the bus with her hand bag slowly slipping off her shoulder and her big suitcase toppling over ( showing it was top heavy ) her small frame and size/hight made her look engulfed by all her belongs and sat on the seat in front of mine her soft brown long hair smoothed around her shoulders and her big brown eyes eyeing up my sweets , we talk about how excited and nervous we are.
finally we make it to the train station and we find the platform easily as my sister knows. when we make it on the train Ellen asks "will you be alright if I go sit with my friends ?" I just nodded in response. me and Tiffany find an empty compartment and laugh , tell stories and catch up after the summer holidays. midway through the journey the weather got stormy , with dark grey clouds , ponding of rain against the old vessel and the violent wind shaking the train. me and Tiffany shared a look both worried mixed with fear. before one of us can say or do anything the compartment door slams open , we both screamed and jumped in terror. "its only me ." Ellen's voice rang out, she sat down next to me . "we're nearly there anyway , not too long to go."
the storm is still pretty bad when we reach the stop and were the first years are separated from the older years , to make the rest of the way on a boat , 'A BOAT. AN OLD WOODEN BOAT FULL OF STUDENTS IN THIS WEATHER ! NO , THANK YOU!' non the less we still had to I am scared out my mind every little move I want to scream , but I don't for reasons. finally safe on solid ground I sighed (a big one at that ). me and Tiffany slowly walked side by side in the middle for the mass of first years , before coming to a sudden stop. both me and Tiffany being shorter than average we could not see much on what was going on , whiched panicked me as I didn't really know then what to do as my name got called " miss Ellie Back !" I froze my hole body didn't know what to do and that scared me , I try really hard to collect myself and I walk forward to be met with an oldish looking woman and a very old worn wooden stool. I looked up at the woman through my eyelashes and some tears that have started to form in my eyes , she singled me to sit on the stool , so that's what I did. I felt a heavy and too big for my head hat being placed on my head . I flinched a little when noise came from it , I heard some giggles and laughs form the other students . I just kept trying to focus on my breathing ,then all the eyes on me but it was utterly pointless. finally the hat made its mind up on where to put me "HUFFLEPUFF!" I got off the stool and walked to the table where the woman pointed to , once sat down it all downed on me 'Hufflepuff... not Ravenclaw like Ellen but Hufflepuff.' I wasn't paying attention to the other first years getting sorted , I was to busy looking for Ellen , my search was useless as I couldn't spot her with the crowned of people , my attention went back on the sorting just as it was Tiffany's turn. she got into Hufflepuff with me which is amazing. we got beds next to each other but us both being super painfully shy we only talked to each other.
now night time I couldn't get to sleep I was just tossing and turning ,I looked over to my right to see Tiffany all scrunched up and mouth open , so I gave up and got out of bed , wearing my big over sized pink jumper and some light blue shorts , I picked up Albert and walked to the common room for my house. its creep in the dark and being so quiet and cold , I stood at the door debating weather or not I should have a wonder around the school , but I know its against the rules so lets hope I don't get caught . I held Albert close to my chest and opened the wooden door slowly trying to make the least amount of noise as possible. once out I sighed but drew a sharp breath in as I heard footsteps , I pressed my back against the cold old stone praying this will hide me , though I highly doubt it. once brave enough to move I found myself looking out to the night sky. "oh sorry I didn't know anyone was out hear." a voice came from behind me. I panicked , turned around eyes wide and chest going up and down too fast for my liking that it started to hurt. I couldn't see the person very clearly as they were far away in the dark and I didn't have my glasses on , though I could see the out line was some one tall , well taller then me but that's not really that hard. and I think by the voice a boy but not sure don't want to assume .
After what happened at the astronomy tower the first night I have gone there every night hoping to see or meet maybe talk to the mysterious person. But with my luck that didn't happen. Also I have already been tabled as the cry baby and the mute girl so yeah my first year is just great.
