I added some dragon liver to my potion before stirring it. The potion changed to a soft teal, and I smiled in satisfaction. "Ah, perfection, Ms. Prince," Slughorn nodded, looking over my pot. "Absolutely beautiful."
"Thank you, Professor," I nodded, flashing him a winning smile. He smiled in return.
"I presume you'll be at the dinner Friday evening?"
"Of course."
"Good." He turned to the class. "Well, Ms. Prince has managed to create the perfect Healing Potion before time is up as per usual so we will bring this class to a close. Don't forget your quarterly exams are coming up. I have posted a list of topics you need to review outside my office so please make sure to be prepared." We all gathered our things before heading out.
"Please tell me you're going to help me study," Daphne asked, falling into step beside me. "Because my Healing Potion turned this gross looking green that would probably just make anyone who was sick throw up."
I laughed lightly, brushing my hair behind my shoulder as we walked down the hall. People stepped aside as we walked, well, as I walked. I was what they called the Slytherin princess. Very few knew what I actually was, but the title Slytherin princess entailed enough respect. I watched as a first year rushed out of my path, dropping a book on the way. He looked down at it, eyes wide. I raised an eyebrow, leaning down to pick it up before handing it to him.
"Thank you," he squeaked before rushing off.
"Of course, I'll study with you," I nodded, continuing to walk. "Plus, I'll practice turning your books into cats for Transfiguration."
"Oh, come on, princess, I thought you'd like to study with me for Transfiguration," a voice behind us teased. I rolled my eyes, knowing exactly who it was.
"I'll see you at lunch," I told Daphne. She gave him a glare before walking off. I glanced over as George Weasley fell into step beside me.
"Now, Weasel, what would make you think I'd want to study with you when you can't even get my last name right?" I questioned, crossing my arms.
"Wait, you're telling me your last name isn't Princess?"
"Absolutely brilliant," I replied sarcastically.
"So listen, it's no secret you're the smartest in our class, and it's no secret that I'm the funniest so how about we team up, and-"
I laughed, stopping outside of Transfiguration. "Team up?" I asked, pointing between us. "You and me?"
"Yep," he nodded, clearly proud of himself. "See, I'll pick your brains so I can pass the quarterly exams, and you'll be having so much fun you won't even realize we're studying."
"I see," I hummed, tilting my head. "Then let me guess, I'll be blown away by your charm, you'll pass the exam, we'll both be so overjoyed..." I tapped his chest with my fingers. "That we'll almost kiss, we'll realize we're madly in love, and one thing will lead to another, and we'll live happily ever after with ten kids and a lot of land?"
"I mean, I'd be fine with three kids, but your plan works too," he teased.
I rolled my eyes. "In your dreams, Weasley."
"Passing the exam or you falling madly in love with me?" he asked, following me into Transfiguration.
"Both at this rate."
He feigned an injury to the heart. "Damn, Princess, right in the heart."
"Wasn't an accident either," I glared, going to my seat. As I got my wand and book out, I stole a glance back at his table. He sent a wink my way, and I rolled my eyes. That there was George Weasley. We'd been in the same class for seven years, and he'd been flirting with me for at least five of them. I returned the banter at times, but it never meant anything. It couldn't. It was a lot deeper than just being the Montagues and the Capulets of Hogwarts. I might be able to overlook that, but blood runs deeper than houses.
