Dad and I quickly rush back to town in the vehicles we found in town hauling a cart full of things we borrowed from the town. We both had different vehicles because Dad's legs are so long, his knees are up in the air "I wonder what it's all for? This Christmas seems like it happens once a year like our celebration. But why isn't it scary?" I ask Dad as we move closer to town.
Dad hums as we continue our way. "I'm sure we'll find out, but we must show everyone first. Think of all the new things this will bring." I hum and nod enthusiastically.
We finally reach the town and we both hear the mayor asking for us in a panic. "Uh, how long were we gone, dad?" I glance in his direction. He shrugs nervously.
We honk the horns and everyone cheers for our arrival. The gate of the town opens up and we file in with Dad in front. We stop to see the mayor have his worrying face. "Jack! Y/n! Where have you two been?!"
"Get everyone in the town hall, Mayor. Everyone needs to see this." Dad orders. "When do you want the meeting?" The mayor asks.
"Immediately!" I shout out and the man gets in his car to tell everyone.
TIME SKIP
Dad and I rush all around the stage, setting everything up as best as we can remember. I finish and look outside the curtain. My eyes catch sight of a familiar boy.
"Oh, looks like that doll guy is here," I tell Dad.
Dad walks up to see the boy. "Oh yes, it seems so. I believe his name is Iden? I heard his lovely friend call him that."
I nod and smirk at Dad. "You think Sally is lovely?" Dad stays silent and quickly walks back to the set. I shake my head in amusement before looking out again. Just in time, I catch "Iden" staring right at me with a lopsided smile. Our eyes meet and widen before he turns his head away with his face in a red hue.
"He's rather shy. But he's cute, nonetheless." I point out and retreat.
Dad moves to the other side of the curtain and begins addressing the audience
Listen, there were objects so peculiar
They were not to be believed
All around, things to tantalize my brain
It's a world unlike anything I've ever seen
And as hard as I try
I can't seem to describe
Like a most improbable dream
But you must believe when I tell you this
It's as real as my skull and it does exist
Here, let me show you
This is a thing called a present
The whole thing starts with a box
A box?
Is it steel?
Are there locks?
Is it filled with pox?
A pox
How delightful, a pox
If you please
Just a box with bright-colored paper
And the whole thing's topped with a bow
A bow?
But why?
How ugly
What's in it?
What's in it?
That's the point of the thing, not to know
It's a bat
Will it bend?
It's a rat
Will it break?
Listen now, you don't understand
That's not the point of Christmas land
Now, pay attention
Now we pick up an oversized sock
And hang it like this on the wall
Oh, yes! Does it still have afoot?
Let me see, let me look
Is it rotted and covered with gook?
Hmm, let me explain
There's no foot inside, but there's candy
Or sometimes it's filled with small toys
Small toys
Do they bite?
Do they snap?
Or explode in a sack?
Or perhaps they just spring out
And scare girls and boys
What a splendid idea
This Christmas sounds fun
Why I fully endorse it
Let's try it at once
Everyone, please now, not so fast
There's something here that you don't quite grasp
Dad looks at me and mutters, "Well, I may as well give them what they want."
And the best, I must confess, I have saved for the last
For the ruler of this Christmas land
Is a fearsome king with a deep mighty voice
At least that's what I've come to understand
And I've also heard it told
That he's something to behold
Like a lobster, huge and red
And sets out to slay with his rain gear on
Carting bulging sacks with his big great arms
That is, so I've heard it said
And on a dark, cold night
Under full moonlight
He flies into a fog
Like a vulture in the sky
And they call him Sandy Claws
The monsters cheer in excitement over this news and begin talking to one another about it.
The curtains close before I sigh sadly before singing myself. "Well, at least they're excited though they don't understand that special kind of feeling in Christmas land. Oh, well..." I hold a glob that seemed like it was snowing.
Iden's POV
"This is amazing! Another town with a different celebration?" A monster in front of me says to the one next to him. "How horrendous!" The other one claims I look back at Sally. "It's interesting, but why doesn't it have anything dark or scary? Is it for another theme?"
Sally nods. "Not only that but Jack and y/n seemed to not like how people were responding."
It was quiet till Sally speaks up again. "I saw y/n and you looking at each other~." Heat rushes up to my face from the statement. "I-well she was probably checking out the crowd and we happened to make eye contact!" I yell in a hushed tone.
Sally rolls her eyes as we head back to the lab.
