18 - Harley Quinn

In the POV of Dream, February 12th

I woke up to a start and lept to my computer room, getting everything set up for Nightmare's birthday stream. Inside her cottage, I put out several hidden birthday trinkets. In total, I got her a full set of enchanted Netherite armor, a secret library room, an automatic farm, mini villager trading center, and a cake in her kitchen area with a flower.

I got the Twitch notification and hopped on, finding a secret spot outside her cottage to hide and crouch with my alt account. I saw her username appear in her garden and she began to make her way inside. I jumped behind her and punched her, a scream coming from her stream. I clicked to call her in Discord and she quickly joined.

"Come on, let me give you a grand tour of your birthday gifts," I said, trying my best to sound confident. I started in the kitchen with the cake than made my way to her room, where her new armor was. I then brought her down to the makeshift cave system I made in the basement, which had everything else.

"You got me so much! Thank you, I mean it. Also, I'll talk to you off stream about your IRL gift since I do have a question about it."

"Okay, sure!" I said, trying to dismiss the topic quickly. We left her house and walked down the Prime Path, strolling and talking as if chat didn't exist. If only we could walk like this in real life. I'd only have to wait a few more weeks for that but the possibility of being able to hold her hand was exhilarating, to say the least. Revealing my face made me nervous but, overall, everything was going to be okay. Hopefully.

"Dream, hello? Jeez. Clay, hello? We're streaming. Daydream later," her voice softly spoke. A gentle tone which was embedded with enough worry to zone me back in.

"Sorry, I didn't mean too. Just zoned out, you know?" I said, laughing a bit.

"You dork. You don't need to apologize. Just help me open this?" She soothed. I focused back on the computer screen, seeing where we were. A mansion with a huge gate and a redstone combination lock to the side.

"You want to break in?" I asked and she nodded, punching in different combinations. Suddenly, a siren blared and our characters looked to each other. 

"It'd be much more fun if I could've guessed the code but I guess I'll have to use my new pickaxe," she quickly explained before taking out a shiny netherite pickaxe and broke through the gate. She ran towards the mansion, laughing hysterically. She opened the door, or more so broke it down, and began to take things from the house. I followed her confused before I saw her stream title.

A villain arc? What was she preparing for? I followed her around, trying to put my input in there and then but, she wasn't listening.

"Listen Jesus, I'm not interested in your pep talks about the greater good. I'm going to Hell anyway," she retorted, her tone of voice different than before. I looked throughout the house before realizing where we were. We were in Sam's mansion where Nightmare began to speak about 'an idiot who doesn't know what's coming for him.'

(in this story, Sam has some rich mansion, cool? Not his little base thingy #lorebitches)

"Nightmare, you shouldn't be getting involved in things that have nothing to do with you," I warn but she cuts me off quickly.

"Who says I wasn't upset about what Sam's been doing? I happen to have an unpopular opinion but it's easy to use a facade in front of people against me."

"You're insane."

"But insanity is a great motivator, is it not?"

"Nightmare, you're digging yourself into a hole that you won't be able to climb out of," I say, curious of what her plans on her lore are.

"Then hopefully I dig at least 6 feet under. Not for me but Mr.Warden here." Was she truly going down the path I was hoping for her to? Could, or would, she attempt a break-in?

"Fine, fine. Do your thing but don't bring me along with it."

"Then watch me. Isn't that basically what you do anyway?" She taunted, a small barely-audible laugh coming with it. I sat and watched as she took Sam's precious items, one by one filling her inventory. She reached her inventory climax quick and left out of the back, alarms still blaring.

"What happens if he finds out it was you," I hesitated, looking back at the direction we just fled from.

"He won't. The blame is on Tommy so I can still follow through with my plan." A message popped up in the lore discord, Nightmare warning Sam she would 'surprise' him with a visit to the prison for lore in 5 days. 

"Why blame Tommy?"

"Tommy is visiting again soon. Sam will have something against him visiting which is perfect for me."

"You've gone crazy, haven't you?"

"You're God, aren't you? Why don't you tell me?"

"You are crazy."

"Crazy for someone. But in general, no." She ended stream right after she said that, leaving us in a call together. It was quiet and peaceful for the first few seconds but it turned to awkwardness quickly. Dead silence.

"So, crazy for someone?" I asked.

"I decided I wanted to be off-the-rails as a character. Like Harley Quinn inspired if that makes sense. Motivated to be crazy as hell by 'love.'"

"What's your plan and how do you plan on making it work?"

"Well, I'll be deeply in love with your character so I'm visiting you to scope out the basics. I discussed with Techno a big plan that'll extend to September. However, I chose Tommy after lore analysis and decided it would be best for Sam to have trust issues with him, especially with what's upcoming."

"So we pretend to be in love in 5 days?"

"If that's okay? I mean what do you want it to be? On my part it could be one-sided or like a secret-love type of deal."

"Secret-love. Egg on the shippers and the ending will be tons of fun." Secret-love, I could say things I meant and pass them as a joke. A great way to ready myself for the real thing in a few weeks. "Wait, didn't you want to ask about one of your actual gifts I got you?"

"Yeah, actually. I want to start with thank you because I love them both. The flowers were incredibily thoughtful and don't even get me started on the Minecraft box. Our characters and the 'Opposites' writing on it are absolutely adorable. I'm just curious about the writing on the note. The note that came with the flowers."

A/N: Sorry, it's been a while. I'm actually in the process of moving right now so it's been very busy this last month. Updates are about to become normal again so "put your seatbelts on."
