"It's alright, I've been through worse"

"Still, that is no way to treat an ally. I sincerely apologise for my partner's actions" Technoblade replied, a look of sympathy showed on his face through the small areas you could see through his mask.

"Seriously, It's fine. I'm already over it. Anyways, I'm going to head to the library, would you like to accompany me?" You asked, a smile lingering on your face.

Technoblade looked shocked at the gesture but quickly composed himself before speaking once again. "I see no reason as to why not," he said with a hint of a smile.

The two of you walked in a comforting silence to the library, a silence that surprised you when part of you didn't want it to end. You walked across the halls, admiring every detail. The walls had been painted a glorious dark oak colour since you couldn't use the actual material with floral elements in every corner. Along the walls were candle sconces made of glowstone that consisted of eye-catching golden swirls to hold the candles in place. The ground was made up of black tiles that had been brought in from the overworld. Now and then, a painting would be on the wall depicting a major part of your father's life.

"Your father's lived quite the life" Techno suddenly announced, also admiring the paintings that were hung on the walls.

"Yes, well, I suppose winning the first war against the Wither did lead him to greatness" you chuckled "if I'm correct, you were part of that war, were you not?"

"Yes, you are correct. I fought by your father's side which is why the moment I was crowned, I created an alliance. Clearly, it was the right move. Especially since we get to work with you. I don't think I've mentioned it yet, but your strategies are spectacular" he continued, clearly not realising he just complimented you.

"Thank you but all the credit can't go to me for the majority of the strategies I came up with an old friend of mine" you explained, remembering the night you spent with Phil what felt like year's ago but was only a few days ago.

"Very well. Also, may I ask, what is this rumour I have hears about a ball happening in a few weeks time?" Technoblade asked, his hands fidgeting with the rinds and golden jewellery that sat upon his fingers.

"Ah yes. It's a tradition to have a royal ball a few days before our soldiers leave as a final farewell in case things don't end too well" you answered with a sad smile on your face as you remembered the last time you had one of those balls and how many people attended but how little people arrived back from the battle.

"That's nice I suppose. My people don't have anything like that"

"Yeah, it has its pros and cons. I'm not sure how this ball is going to be. It's going to be my first time actually departing with the soldiers after a ball. Don't get me wrong, I have gone to plenty of battles but none big enough to cause a ball beforehand" you clarified.

"Well, I'm sure this one is going to end well. We have over a hundred thousand soldiers. The odds are in our favour" Technoblade reassured you with a gentle smile, resting his hand on your shoulder. The sudden contact caused you to freeze for a second, surprised. However, you quickly composed yourself and carried on down the hallways.

You quickly found yourself at the fortress library, a room containing ornate bookcases that looked like they had been carved by a person with a profound love for literature. The engravings were of leaves, of golden nuggets that were found in the ground and ghasts - to invite the fingers to take it in just as much as the eyes. The entire building had the smell of firewood and old books that made the place welcoming and calm.

You imagined what this place must have been like three hundred years ago when it was first built. The grand opening with like-minded people who all have a love for reading. The bustling of people in the aisles of shelves trying to find a new book. Part of you wished to go back to those days but the other part of you loved the peace of the now-abandoned library.
