When you had arrived at Phil's cottage, you had been an utter mess. Hair a mess from the wind, clothes damp from the snow melting as it touched your hot body, your skin a completely different hue. You were one again, on the brink of death. You really should bring a thicker cloak or something next time you want to go to Phil's.
Due to your overly large ego and extremely fluctuating self-esteem, you would have been very happy if it were just you and Phil alone when you arrived. Unfortunately, life had not given you that privilege.
When you had arrived he had, in fact, two guests over. Who were they, you ask? They called themselves Eret and Niki.
Eret was the definition of perfection. First, their personality itself was bubbly and approachable and then there was the way they kept themself. They seemed like royalty with their crown and long red cloak yet seemed like a civilian with the slang they used when they spoke. If they were royalty, they were no doubt adored by their kingdom.
Niki was just as perfect. She seemed shyer than Eret yet just as bubbly and approachable. However, she didn't seem like royalty. She just wore a simple dress with an apron on it. Perhaps a baker, you'll have to ask her later.
When you had arrived at the cottage, you didn't say any words to Phil when he opened the door and, instead, just walked straight over towards the fireplace which, to your luck, was full blast with plenty of logs burning.
Eret and Niki just sat on Phil's sofa, staring at you in confusion as you basically sat inside the fire, warming yourself up. You only realised the guests when Eret uncomfortably cleared his throat, causing you to turn around, eyes wide in shock.
"Good evening. This is quite the first impression" you awkwardly chuckled with one of the most embarrassed smiles ever.
"Hello there" Eret laughed with a sincere smile. "I'm Eret, this is Niki. We're old friends of Phil's" they carried on as your eyes scanned for Phil who seemed to of disappeared.
"I'm y/n. This is still very awkward" you said as you unhooked your cloak and carefully threw it off, your bag coming off with it.
"Is everything ok, y/n? You don't come here very often" Phil asked as he appeared in the doorway, a mug of hot chocolate in his hands.
"Oh, yes. Everything is fine. I just wanted your help with something but it's not important. I can go and let you enjoy some time with your friends-" you began to ramble until Niki cut you off.
"No, please. Stay. You're a Blaze, I'm presuming, and going back into that snow is definitely not safe for you. So, please stay here and I'm sure me and Eret can help too. That's if you want us too, of course" she said with a warm smile.
"Yeah, y/n, stay. It's fine. What can we help with?" Phil questioned, handing you the drink before collapsing onto the same sofa as Eret and Niki.
You stared at the hot chocolate in your hands, confused as to why it was handed to you. Was Phil aware you can't drink regular overworld drinks? I mean, sure you did on occasion but now was not the time. For now, you decided to ignore it and placed the glass on the table next to you.
"Long story short, I need a ball gown. There's this huge ball my people are having to say goodbye to the soldiers who are leaving for war in a few days time and I need a fancy dress. Any ideas?" You explained simply.
"Oh! We can help with that. I'm great with designing outfits and Niki has amazing sewing skills!" Eret gladly exclaimed, causing you to jump at their sudden energy. "Would you like to get started?"
"That would be great, yes" you answered, slightly nervous about this whole situation while also being extremely excited.
The four of you spent the next hour or so simply just designing the dress on multiple sheets of paper with many different looks. Some were too extravagant whilst others were just too plain. However, after at least fifty trials and errors, you all came up with the perfect dress.
It started with a sweetheart neckline of black fabric that would be layered with glittered dark red lace with it sinching at the waist and the skirt flared outwards fading from the black to a rich red with orange jewels patterned all around it, ones similar to the one that sat on your forehead. Along with this, it would be paired with a lace black cape that would be clasped fittingly at your neck.
It was perfect. Everything you had ever dreamed of in a ball gown. Especially if this ball could be your last, though you didn't intend for it to be.
"I say we start making this now. The earlier we start it, the more time we have to make adjustments" Niki suggested after the design had been redrawn, this time with much more detail and with multiple labels indicating what type if fabric everything would be and the length of it and whatnot.
"I agree. Let's get going" Eret agreed and with that the four of you set off on making your own sections of the dress. Eret would work on the bodice part whilst Niki on the skirt. You would stick to the cape as it seemed the easiest and Phil would be on fabric duty meaning he had to run around his house constantly trying to find his supplies.
Everything had been going so well that you all had completely forgotten about the time and by the time someone brought it up, it had already hit midnight. All four of you were absolutely exhausted. Eret was basically lying down as he worked, Niki was slouching over the mannequin that wore the skirt, you were leaning against the hot fireplace to keep yourself warm in the winter conditions and Phil was fast asleep on a loveseat in the corner of the room.
"How long have we been doing this?" You asked no one in particular as you carried on sewing the lace in your hands.
"A few hours at most. You got here late in the evening and we started working on the dress at around ten so I'd day around three or so hours" Eret muttered, clearly exhausted.
"Seriously? Gosh, time in your world moves so slow. I feel like I've been here for a day already" you lazily chuckled before resting your head against the fireplace once again, closing your eyes for a second before opening them once again. However, as you blinked you noticed your eyes staying closed longer and longer until eventually you accidentally drifted off into a comfortable and much-needed rest.
(A/n
Hey y'all, just wanna say that this chapter was not originally supposed to be this at all. I had an entirely different plan for the next few chapters but yesterday I had an epiphany and I've added a few extra chapters to this story that I'm excited to write so the next few chapters might come sooner then planned but don't hold me to that)
