After the feast, you had made your way back to your room to change into the next outfit of the evening. This wardrobe was certainly extreme. The outfit was the eloquent gown that had been handmade for you. After Niki and Eret's final touches, it had certainly looked ravishing. The sweetheart neckline of the dress had been partnered with a golden necklace that had a pearl that rested on your chest, its colour near-perfectly matching the one on your face. The torso was a deep black that had been layered with a patterned lace, the details barely visible yet added a flair to it. The dark ended at the waist with the lace sectioning off slightly in the shape of a 'v' just below the waist, the red of the skirt visible underneath it. The skirt itself had been made with red velvet, the material allowing it to flow down to the ground with the hem of it being decorated with crystals, once again, similar to the one on your face. There had been some changes that had been made after you left but they were certainly needed.
Your hair had been styled by Adelia to frame your face. It had been gently curled in places to stay out your eyes whilst simultaneously being let down. Your hands and wrists had been adorned with plenty of jewellery that made your arms feel heavy yet also felt weightless. It was perfect. It was, by far, the most extravagant outfit you had ever worn to a ball and for a good reason. After all, if this were to be your last, at least you looked absolutely dashing.
You had managed to change in just less than two hours and were now rushing to the largest ballroom within the fortress, already knowing you were somewhat late. Thankfully, this was meant to be a somewhat party meaning it began practically immediately after the feast, therefore meaning no one would be waiting for your arrival. Or, at least, that's what you thought.
Contrary to your beliefs, you had a rather large number of people wondering where in gods name you were: two of which being Technoblade and Aegeus. The two Piglins stood in a far corner of the room, giving them a view of the entire area, including the entrance. Technoblade had been expecting you to be a little late to this gala since you had previously let him know of your complex clothing requirements, yet he hadn't expected it to take this long. At this rate, the party would be in full swing before you arrived.
Aegeus stood a few feet away from Technoblade, mainly admiring the snacks and beverages bar that had been conveniently placed at the furthest wall from the entrance. He somewhat regretted eating so much during the feast because some of the sweet delicacies that were on display looked absolutely luscious. Whilst munching on some sort of cake, Aegeus had turned to look at his friend and noticed the slight frown of his lip as he looked at his watch then back at the entrance, his foot rapidly tapping at the floor.
"I'm sure she'll be here soon" Aegeus announced, hoping to release some tension from his partner.
Technoblade turned to look at his friend, his mask that has been previously worn had been removed, albeit reluctantly, and now sat tied around his belt, similar to Aegeus'.
"Heh?" Technoblade let out, gesturing with his hands for Aegeus to elaborate.
Aegeus let out a small chuckle before finishing his mouthful of cake. "Well, it's obvious your waiting for the girl. She's the only person you actually socialise with. Now, please stop me if I'm incorrect, but I believe there is something more you see in her than just a friendship or even just a war ally. It's rather obvious"
Technoblade just stared at Aegeus in response, his lips parted and eyebrows furrowed as he tried to understand what he was saying. "Come again?"
"After almost every meeting, the two of you disappear off to god knows where doing god knows what but I've never seen either of you doin' anything together, so you're clearly not actually together, which makes sense since you've known each other...what? Three weeks? Four maybe? But you've spent an ungodly amount of hours together meanin' you've probably learnt a lot about each other. I mean, just seein' you two converse during the feast was enough to prove to me that there is some sort of chemistry" Aegeus explained, twirling his glass of champagne.
