As school went on, days blurred together. Honestly, I lost track of some of them until the first snow of the year. Shit, it was already winter, and I was oblivious to it. Everyone else was pretty excited, but I was mostly indifferent. The temperature, I wasn't a fan of. Since I'm already pretty cold normally with my quirk, I got even colder during the winter since unlike my dad I can't really regulate my boy temp.
Despite that though, I was still out off campus with my friends to hang out for the day. Wearing a baggy jacket over a light blue turtleneck and some slacks. Everyone else was dressed in a little lighter clothes than I was. Letting out a soft yawn, I glanced at Zota in front of Kazu and I.
"Where are we even going? You still haven't said."
"Its a surprise! Just have some patience guys." I glanced beside me at Kazu before we both shrugged, still just following along until we saw a movie theatre coming up ahead.
"You could've just said we were gonna be seeing a movie, its not that hard." Kazu chuckled as I said that, all while Zota just shook his head. As we got closer, I saw somebody else ahead. Looking down at their phone before the gaze raised to look at the three of us. They had a scarf covering up their mouth, but I could recognize the red eyes and black hair. Zota let out a soft gasp before looking back at us.
"Kireah, I didnt know you'd be here. What a pleasant surprise!"
"You invited me here..." Kireah gave a confused look towards Zota, while Zota had a look of disappointment and annoyance on his face.
"You were supposed to go along with it..." Kazu and I couldn't help but laugh a bit, shaking our heads before Kireah shrugged and tucked his phone in his pocket.
"I'm not really good at pretending." He would glance at Kazu and I, waving slightly before the four of us went into the theatre's lobby to take a look at the movies and pick out snacks. I ended up grabbing some sour patch kids, Zota got Nachos, popcorn, and a soda. While Kazu and Kireah just got soda. We eventually decided to see a horror movie, well. It was more so a slasher movie than real horror.
Zota covered the cost of our tickets while we all paid for our own snacks, making our way to the theatre room where our movie was being played. We were able to get some seats all the way in the back highest row, sitting towards the middle. I was sitting on the outside of our spot, Kireah next to me, followed by Zota and Kazu.
Currently, the previews were playing. So Zota and Kazu were chatting with each other while Kireah was scrolling on his phone boredly. Checking my own phone, I couldn't get mine to really connect to anything.
"What data plan do you have, Kireah? I cant barely even get one bar."
"Hm?" He glanced up at me, blinking a bit as he finally realized what I said. "Oh, just a cheap one... I've modified my phone so cell phone blockers don't really work. Theatres have them all the time but they are pretty easy to work through."
"Work through? What... You mean like, you hacked it?" Kireah would slightly nod, but shrugged immediately after.
"Sort of. Its more so I just have sort of a blocker on my phone to block the blocker... That sounded really stupid when worded like that." I chuckled slightly, nodding a bit before glancing at the theatre screen.
"So you're more of a computer person then? Neat..." He glanced up at me, staring for a slight moment before he pulled his scarf down and smiled slightly and took a sip of his soda.Soon enough, the movie finally started. All our attention now focused on that as Kireah stuck his phone back into his pocket. The opening production logos starting before swiftly moving on into the movie itself, I eventually started to snack on the sour patch kids I got, Kazu and Zota had taken off their jackets by now, but I had mine on still since I could keep myself cool with my quirk. Kireah however was keeping all his stuff on still, even pulling his scarf back up to cover his mouth again. Glancing at him curiously I whispered to him.
"Aren't you hot wearing all that? Especially with the seats so close together."
"N-Na I'm fine, I'm more comfortable like this..." Kireah would shift in his spot a bit after saying that, playing with his sleeves a bit as well. This was a little odd to me, almost like he wanted to hide something. But I didn't wanna intrude on it, it was probably something personally and I still wasn't super close with him.
"Alright... Let me know if you do though, I might be able to figure out a way to help with my quirk and all." He would give a small nod, watching him for a few more moments before I refocused back on the movie. That was pretty much where our conversations ended for the rest of the movie. All four of us keeping our attention on it instead as every now and then I would hear Kazu or Zota chuckle, likely from the stuff that usually happens in slashers happening.
Once the movie was over, we all had got up, taking our trash and such with us and refilling our drinks before leaving the cinema. Zota letting out a loud yawn and stretch.
"Wow, that really sucked. In a good way though, hehe." He looked back at the three of us while we stepped out, I simply shrugged while Kazu shook his head."I kinda liked it, it wasn't that bad." Kazu shrugged as he spoke, the two looking at Kireah and I now.
"I thought it was fine, nothing special but not terrible." We then all looked at Kireah, who currently had his attention fully in his phone, completely zoned out until he realized we were all looking at him.
"Huh? Oh... I wasn't paying much attention to it to be honest. It was fun to hang out though guys, but I gotta get going home."
"What? you said you had all night?" Zota exclaimed as Kireah just nervously shrugged and started to head off, letting out a soft huff before pushing me towards him. "you're not getting out of this dude! Suraki, ask him out already."
"What?!" I looked at Zota with a shocked and honestly embarrassed face before looking back over at Kireah, seeing that he had frozen up now and slowly turned to look at me.
"I... Uh... So do you... You know..." I wasn't sure what to even say, I wasn't ready for this at all. But Zota was always pushy when it came to stuff he had planned. Kireah just stared for a few moments longer before glancing away, slowly shaking his head.
"I... I can't... I shouldn't have started to hang out with you guys, I... I gotta go, I'll text you guys sometime..." We were all sorta dead silent now after he had said that, he gave us one last look and a faint wave before walking off down the street and taking a turn around a building.
"Zota... What the hell was that?" I shot my gaze over to him, glaring slightly as he looked away, knowing he kinda messed up.
"I just wanted to see you try at least...""I wasn't anywhere near ready to even think of asking! Not to mention I barely know him since he already barely talked when we hung out, then you do that!" He nodded a bit, looking down at the ground before I sighed and rubbed my forehead a bit. "Look... I appreciate you trying to get me to move on... But I'm not ready, I don't know when I'll be... I at least wanna have some hope that Nosido is safe but... I know that's way too far fetched now." Zota would close his eyes and nod again, rubbing his arm awkwardly before Kazu soon spoke up.
"Lets get back to the dorms... Since the rest of the night is kinda ruined now without Kireah here." I nodded, starting to walk ahead before I stopped and gave Zota a reassuring pat on the shoulder. Trying to show I wasn't super upset about this as he soon lifted his head and smiled before we all went off back to UA.
