{Farukon's POV}

    It was quiet in my apartment, aside from the quiet music I had playing from my phone as I waited for the pizza to be done cooking. Leaning against the center Island of my kitchen, I had my wings hung in relaxed manner behind me while holding one of the sharp metal tipped feathers and lightly poking my finger softly with it. Not really in an effort to draw any blood, but just to keep myself occupied while I waited.

    Soon though, I heard the door to my apartment slowly creak open. Now on full alert, I twirled the feather I had upside down to hold like a dagger. Swiftly and quietly hiding myself behind the wall leading into the entry way where my door was, hearing the soft footsteps get closer. I soon jumped out, raising the feather up over my shoulder before stopping when I realized who it was.

"Oh, its you!" I lowered my hand, standing before me was Kireah staring sort of deadpan at me with his red eyes before nodding softly. "Why didn't you say anything when you came in?" He walked passed me a few steps, pausing and running his hand through his hair for a moment before looking back at me.

    "Sorry, I'm just.... Tired, that's all." I frowned slightly, tucking the feather back into my brown wing as I soon wrapped my arms around him.

    "Mm... Sorry to hear that, did things not go well at the movies then?"

    "Not at all... Think I'm gonna crawl back into my hermit shell again and stay inside unless I have to go out for work." I would frown again for a few moments before resting my head on top of his, nodding softly in response to what he said.

    "Well... In better news, I made you're favorite. Pizza should be done soon." I then lifted my head to look down at him, giving his forehead a quick kiss before heading back into the kitchen to check the pizza. I could tell his mood had gotten a little better already since I heard his footsteps follow behind me at a quick pace before he sat down at the kitchen Island.

    Seeing that the pizza would take a few more minutes, I closed the oven and turned to lean on my side of the Island while Kireah smiled at me faintly. He had his jacket and scarf off now, wearing a t-shirt underneath as my eyes glazed over the many many scars all up and down his arms and the sides of his neck with one nasty but faded one across his throat, slices, incisions, pretty much all to think of were present a well. Aside from burns.  "You think these will ever fade?" I asked, tracing my fingers over a few before taking his hand and holding it gently.

    "Mm... With time I think so... But that'll be a long time. Even then, I'm sure some of these will last probably my whole life." I nodded, rubbing his hand gently before letting go so I could get the pizza out of the oven and cut it up into pieces for us to have.

    "Most likely... Alright! That's enough being depressed, lets eat." I smiled at him as he let out a soft chuckle. Handing him a plate that had one half of the pizza in slices while I had the other. We would take our plates out to the living room, I sat down on the couch first while he laid in my lap, watching TV together until we went off to bed.

{"Farukon, glad you could join us." A disembodied voice spoke from the darkness around me, ahead of me was a machine with fogged up glass and the faint outline of a figure inside. Said figure was all hung up with from what I could see, wires and other tubes.

"This is my next assignment?"

"Precisely... Your job will be to protect it."

"And what exactly is it?" I glanced into the darkness, not seeing anyone there. But knowing exactly where the voice came from despite it echoing all around me. My gaze was then brought back to the machine when I heard a hiss, the glass slowly lifting as the fog flowed out from inside.

"My latest creation..." I stared into the abyss inside the machine, inching a few steps closer until a pair of red eyes opened and stared back into my own.}

    Waking up in the now almost pitch dark of my room, aside from the moonlight flowing in from my window as small specs of the snow drifted from the sky. I would rub my eyes a bit, I only ever woke up from movements or sound, glancing beside me. Where Kireah once slept beside me was now empty. Letting out a soft sigh, I would stretch my body and wings as some of my metal tipped feathers glistened in the moon. Letting out a deep grunt of relief before getting up out of bed and heading out to the living room.

    As expected, Kireah was sitting up on the couch with one of his legs hanging off as he stared blankly at the wall. Clearly lost in thought, I slowly made my way over and lightly brushed my hand across his left shoulder to snap him out of it without startling him. Something we thought of together so we could avoid me accidentally getting sucker punched in the throat like when we first met.

    "Sidoon? Are you alright?" He would remain silent, not moving and only very subtly breathing, but I knew he heard me. Rubbing his shoulder slightly until he finally tilted his head a bit as he kept his gaze on the wall.

    "I'm never alright, you know that..." His body kept still again, thinking for a moment. I soon sat down on the edge of the couch in front of him, blocking his view of the wall.

    "Maybe... But I can always hope, right?" I gave him a faint smile, one he didn't return this time as he stared into my eyes. His hand holding one of his other arms as he tapped it softly.

    "Do you really care about me? Or are you just doing you're job..." My eyes dilated for a moment, a bit taken back by that question. But it was one that I heard before. Sighing softly before shrugging.

    "Both I suppose... But now you're going to say that oh I can only pick one, but I really beg to differ... My job is to protect you, and in a way protection has to come from care. Right?" I stared back at him, he would blink for a few moments before covering his face up and leaning his head back.

    "I-I'm sorry, I was having an episode again... I... It hurts.... Everything just hurts, my mind, my veins, my muscles... Everything."

    "I know, I know..." I frowned slightly, getting off the couch and moving his hands so I could rest my forehead against his, rubbing his wrists slowly and comfortably. "Anything feel different? Tingles? Aches? Heat? Cold?" He would wait for a few seconds before shaking his head and sighing.

    "Just tired..."

"Want to sleep alone tonight? I know that helps sometimes..." He would soon nod, leading me to close my eyes and nod back before grabbing the extra blanket off the arm rest and laying it over him. "Well, you know where to go if you need me... Sleep well, Sidoon." I softly rubbed his forehead for a few moments, his red eyes staring into mine as I had a brief flashback to when we met back in the lab. But soon, he would turn over and start to relax. I waited for him to fully fall asleep before heading back to the bedroom and grabbing my phone, shooting a quick message.

"Having Episodes again, might need check up soon, ilyk if he does, -F" I then set my phone on my nightstand and flopped into bed, sprawling my wings out and staring out at the moon in the sky until I drifted off back into sleep.
