"Hey." I walked up to the Greenie as she worked alone on a farm, leaning against one of the farm's support pillars. She was starting her Track-hoes trial. "Hi." She looked up from her work planting seeds allowing me to see those pretty (e/c) -Ahem. "I um- I want to say sorry. For you know, tackling you and stuff, uh." I broke eye contact with her feeling stupid. "Hey, It's no biggie. Newt told me about how dangerous the maze is and stuff." She gave me a pretty smile like, my God -No.
"Yeah.. Yeah the maze is pretty dangerous if you don't know your way around. Uh- I'm Minho by the way." I awkwardly point to myself. She gave a cute giggle -Get a hold of yourself!, "Well it's a pleasure to meet you Minho. I would give my name but I unfortunately can't remember. Greenie is my temporary placeholder." We shared a laugh together. It was.. well, more than nice but I can't think of another word.
"Uh -so how's working as a Track-hoe? You like the job?" I asked. "It's not bad. I could continue with no problem but I still have Med-jacks and Cooks to try." She shrugs her shoulders, continuing her work. "Wait, only Med-jacks and Cooks left? What about others like Builders? Did you complete the trial already?" I questioned, "Ah, well I skipped most. A lot of the guys were giving me the 'look'." I could see how uncomfortable she was to remember the guys that gave her the 'look' and I was mad. "Oh and my first impression of Gally was to punch him in the face." She added, her little comment making laughter ring in the farms.
"I was actually thinking if I could be a runner. If that's possible of course. Newt said I needed to be chosen by the Keeper of Runners, which is you." She smiles at me but her eyes show strong determination and seriousness. "Well that depends? You think you can handle it? Only the best of the best become runners ya know?" I turned into the confident Minho everyone knew, guess it's because we're talking about an area of my expertise.
"I can run, I have a good amount of stamina, I can navigate and remember paths relatively well, I'm quick on my feet and I think I can kick ass if needed." She crossed her arms, smirking at me, "You think?" I gave one of my own to her, raising a brow.
She breaks eye contact, awkwardly looking around, "Well, it's hard to explain. I get like memories of fighting and there are a lot of times where muscle memory kicks in." She picks up a hand shovel on the ground, expertly twirling, tossing and flipping it in her hand before slicing it through the air, "Like when Winston handed me that knife back in the blood house, it felt so familiar. It also kicked in when you tackled me and I flipped us, like I've done it a hundred times before." She lowered the shovel, turning her attention to me. I was in awe, I mean- she looked so badass!
"Maybe it has to do with your past or something? Like before the Glade." I suggested. She nodded, setting the hand shovel back down, "What if I was someone horrible before the Glade?" She stared down at her dirt covered hands, "What do you mean?" I tilt my head, trying to get a better look at her. "Like.. what if I've hurt people, maybe even killed, before the Glade?" She looked up at me, her face troubled and her eyes secretly held fear. "Like.. what if-"
"Hey, hey, it's alright. It doesn't matter what you did before the Glade. You're here now and all that matters is what you will do next as a Glader." One hand gripped her shoulders while I cradled her face with the other, shaking her lightly. She stared directly into my eyes as I did the same. Her face seems closer than before-
"Uhm... Thank you, that meant a lot to me." She stared at the floor and backed away a little. Red could be seen from the cracks of dirt on her face. I raised my hand to her face again, wiping the dirt to see her flustered face more clearly. "No problem." a smirk raised to my face again knowing I did this to her.

Cheers rang around the bonfire as the boys lit it up. As per tradition, we held our monthly bonfire. Aziel hung around me like always ever since he came up, taking his seat on my right. We silently ate as we watched the boys make the ring for the monthly fight with Gally. Well Aziel was. I was scanning the crowd for the Greenie.
"So you and the Greenie?" I choked on my food as Aziel brought up the topic. "Ahk- W-what- where did that come from? Ahem." I regained my composure as Aziel gave me a big grin. "What's that for?" I point to his face. I mean, of course I know what his grin is for but I'm supposed to be the cool Minho he looks up to. "You like the Greenie." Aziel simply states. "I have no clue what you're talking about." I focus back on my food, mindlessly poking it.
"Really? Oh hey, it's the Greenie." It's embarrassing how fast I turned my head. Aziel bursted out in giggles. "Okay, that's mean." I gave him a small glare as he nearly topples over laughing. "No but seriously, Greenie at 8 o'clock." he gave gave me a smirk, "Yeah, I'm not falling-"
"Hey." I whipped around to see the Greenie and Newt approaching with their own plate of food. "Hi." I gave her a smile. "This seems familiar." We shared a small laugh, "Anyways, this seat taken?" She points to the seat on my left. "Oh, no. Be my guest." I shuffled a little more to the left to make room for her. "Thanks." She settles down in the seat and digs into her meal. The fire lit up her face in all the best ways-GOD DAM-. Newt raised his brows in as he passed me to seat himself beside Aziel.
"He likes her doesn't he?"
"Of course."
Newt and Aziel whispered to each other before snickering. I gave them a glare which shut them up but they gave me annoyingly innocent faces in return. "Slim it." I whispered back at them, "What?" The Greenie turned her attention to me. "Oh, uh, no, nothing." I stammered out. I can hear Newt and Aziel snicker on my right.
A Griever's cry from the distance properly shut them up. "What was that?" The Greenie turned to me shocked, "That was a Griever. They are the reason no one wants to run in the maze. Get stung by them and you're good as dead." The atmosphere became tense. No one wanted to speak. Some silently send their prayers to their fallen friends.
"Hey Greenie! How about a little game huh?" Gally cuts the silence, gesturing to his little fighting ring. The Greenie puts her plates on her seat as she gets up. Reflexively, I gripped her wrist, "You don't have to, you know?" I stared up at her. "Maybe. But I want to. Besides, maybe kicking his ass can bring back some memories." She gave me a sly grin. I gave back a smirk of my own, "Do me a favour and kick his ass good then. Oh, but be careful."
Cheers rang as the Greenie and Gally circled each other. "The rules are simple, I try to push you out of the circle and you try to last five seconds." Gally smirks at the Greenie. She abruptly stops, "Are you implying that I can't beat you because I'm new or I'm a girl?" The Greenie gave this killer glare at Gally. He only shrugs, "Maybe both." His taunting smile was immediately wiped off as he narrowly dodged a punch from the Greenie.
"Whoa, hey! That's not fair!" Gally lets out as he blocks another punch from the Greenie, "Fair? Like hell anything is fair!" Punch, "Just look where we are!" Another punch, "In a real situation, no one's gonna wait for you to get ready, Besides, You should be able to beat me since I'm the new girl right!" The Greenie ducks down to avoid Gally's punch and sweeps Gally's legs with her's. Gally rolls out of the way from a punch, sand flies as the Greenie's fist meets the ground where Gally once was.
Gally took his chance and grabs the Greenie in a choke hold, "You talk a lot, don't you Greenie?" I was ready to intervene when the Greenie suddenly flips Gally, his back to the ground.
"My name's (y/n), not Greenie. Take this as a reminder to not underestimate the new girl."
