Something's not right

As Toby turned around the key in the lock, it made a quiet clicking noise. "I told you that you'll regret that. None of this is our fault", he mumbled to himself as he walked to his assigned place.

From that moment, everything went by fast, very fast. Maybe even too fast. However, everything happened how Toby predicted it to. It worked out so smoothly that Mimi was kind of scared. It could've also been the lack of knowledge of what would happen after this night that scared her. When she thought back to what happened, she had shivers running down her spine. Flora killed the man with a stab in his throat. She must've hit his vocal cords, too, since there was no scream. After his death, the female placed the knife she had used on the floor next to him. Toby locked the door to the parts and service room again, making sure the murderer still had all his keys to the restaurant so the corpses would be found. That was five minutes ago. Mimi had seen the corpse and immediately pushed her sister out of the room so she wouldn't. The female didn't want to make things even worse for her. What now? She assumed - after the corpses would be discovered, obviously - the police would investigate. Though, would they be able to trace back tracks to them? Probably not. But they were pretty much likely to close the restaurant. And then? Was she going to be stuck in there forever? Before she had time to think further, Flora waved at her to tell her to come over to the group. The girl quickly walked over to the other animatronics. "What is it?", she asked curiously. "It's nine thirty now, that leaves us with about nine hours and a half until the first person will arrive to open the restaurant. We took care of the bodies, the doors, checked his keys so they will investigate the parts and service room when they see them. We also put on the power again. That means we're done here, right?", Toby asked, trying to hide the unmistakable worry in his voice. Everybody agreed and he blankly stared into space while he lifted his hand to his head, resting his elbow on his other arm that was crossed in front of his chest. He seemed to be cogitating. After realizing the expectant glances of the others, he turned away to hide his uncertainty. He cleared his throat. "If you want, you can look around the restaurant, I need some time to think", he said, already walking off. They were in the main room and the male went in direction of Kid's Cove. Since everyone was kind of confused because they just got left there, nobody followed him. Toby was happy about the fact that he still knew the restaurant quite well. This made some things way easier for him - hiding for example. The male opened the trap door on the side of the stage from Kid's Cove, then quickly slipped into the small room under it. The little chamber was currently empty, usually being used to store Molly's animatronic. He sat down and leaned on a wall. While looking at one of many spider webs, he took a deep breath. Even though he was unable to smell, he assumed the air would reek of old wood and rotting food. Now the reason why he came there in the first place - the need to think in peace. The male looked at his animatronic hands. He must've made a mistake. A grave one. Why were they still there? They fulfilled their task, so their souls should be able to rest. He went through the events of earlier time and time again, unable to find the slightest mistake. "Here you are", Flora's voice coming from the entrance remarked. Toby looked at her. Of course, it only was a matter of time until he'd be found, he had known that from the start. She offered him a hand, but he declined it and climbed out by himself. He noticed that they were alone. "The others are still looking around here but I wanted to talk to you. You may not trust us, and we may not trust you, nonetheless we're stuck here together. How are we going to leave? You thought it would be automatically after we took our revenge, didn't you? Why didn't it happen?", she asked calmly. "I fucked up. Originally, our souls should be free after we finished our task - I don't know what went wrong and you've got all rights to be mad at me", he answered, already waiting for a scream, a punch - any sign of anger. No such thing happened. Instead, she put her hand on his shoulder. "Are you sure that our souls will leave the animatronics once we did what we had to do?", she wanted to know. "It's the reason you didn't leave this world in the first place, so yes", Toby said. A small, encouraging smile formed itself on Flora's face. If that was the only thing keeping them there, it shouldn't be that hard to fix it. "I guess that means we're not ready yet. We have to tell the others though", the female told him in an almost motherly sounding voice. Surprised but happy about her response, he agreed. The reactions of the others were - just like Flora's - quite calm. Lastly, they spent the rest of the night searching for a problem. The problem. Even though they had listed multiple, possible reasons and solutions to them - also trying some of these ideas - they couldn't deny the fact that the only problem they wouldn't be able to fix that easily the one the most likely was. They tried to not talk about it at first, but they had to at some point since it was the most obvious one. Their families. They needed to at least say goodbye at some point. Tell them their death wasn't because they went there alone
