Close call

Mimi opened her eyes. When she saw Toby's grinning face, fear as well as anger started to build up in her. Frankly, it didn't surprise her that he and Flora found a way to enter the small chamber. Her animatronic body already started moving, standing up to walk towards the exit of Kid's Cove. Even though she was able to look around a few times, Sascha was nowhere to be seen. The female assumed that he either was still under the stage or already roaming free. Leaving the room, she saw Luca sneaking out from under a table. Desperately, Mimi wanted to scream and warn him, but she couldn't. It felt as if something held her mouth close. The animatronic watched herself running towards the night guard as if she was some third person, not completely outside, but out of control.
As soon as Luca crawled out from under the table, he heard heavy steps and knew it already was too late to go back down there. He didn't look around to see which robot was following him and just started running, because he knew for sure that whoever would catch him, would kill him for sure. When he entered the restaurant, he had had a bad feeling from the start, then the power went out and he knew he had a big problem. Luca tried to concentrate on finding a good place to hide, however, the male had the feeling that the steps were coming closer. In this moment, he cursed himself for not doing sports enough. Suddenly, a question popped up in his head. Where are the others? If they were trying to cut off the way to escape through the other rooms, there would be no hope left for him. The night guard ran into the kitchen, climbed onto a shelve and pulled himself into the vent shaft. Maybe one of the animatronics removed the vent grille to be able to move through the restaurant more quickly. Luca was surprised that he managed to get into the air shaft, but he guessed it just was because of the fear and adrenaline. Once he turned around and peeked down, yellow eyes stared at him. For a second, the male watched Mimi, who was struggling to get to him, thinking about if she would be able to follow him, then he turned to the fan on the other side. So that was the thing the animatronic fixed a few nights ago. Carefully, he climbed through a gap between two of the rotor blades. Luca sat down and thought for a moment. He had two ways to get through this. The first one would be to do the same as in the first night and the second one would be trying to get the keys, going to the fuse box, and switching the power back on, then he'd just have to get back into the office in one piece and close the doors. Both plans had risks, but when he'd managed to get the keys, he had basically won. After taking a deep breath, he listened if there was someone else in the vents with him. No sound. Nobody there. The night guard started crawling further into the air shaft and decided to do a mix between both of his ideas.
Toby sat on the chair in the office and looked through the cameras. "Do you think that turning on the power was a good idea? I mean, it also helps him, doesn't it?", Flora who was standing behind him, asked. The male nodded and turned to her. "Not necessarily. When he locks himself in, while we're not here, we'll just turn off the power", he responded. "Mimi seems to be on tour again, Sascha is walking through the main rooms. At the moment, he's in Kid's Cove. Now we just need to find our night guard. Considering how he isn't visible on any of the cameras, I'm pretty sure he's hiding in one of the vents", he continued, and Flora pulled herself into the air shaft. "On it", she said before disappearing.
The keys. How could he be able to get them? Luca sighed. He was sure the animatronic kept them somewhere around himself, something else wouldn't make sense. Right now, the night guard was sitting under a table again. That was something he had learned in the first night, when he was hiding with Mimi. The long table covers hid him from the cameras and robots passively searching for him, for those who were actively trying to find him, the hiding spot under a table was so obvious, it was invisible again. Luca had to admit, whenever someone passed by, his heart jumped a little, but, eventually, the night passed.
It was about five minutes to six a.m. and the night guard was sneaking down the hallway. He figured that staying under a table the whole night would also be dangerous in some way. They could start checking them. "There you are!", Toby's voice behind him said happily. For a second, Luca was scared, then he remembered the time. With a victorious smile, he turned around. "What are you going to do? In only a few minutes, someone else will arrive here. They changed the working schedule, it's too late already", he lied. His shift would be over at six, but no one would be there until seven. It worked, and the content grin on the animatronic's face faded into a confused and insecure expression. Only a few seconds later, Toby stepped a bit closer and looked down on him. He chuckled and pointed at something behind the night guard. When Luca turned around, he found himself only a few steps away from Mimi, who just walked around the corner. "It's indeed too late for me, but not for her. After she kills you, people will figure that you made a mistake when you installed the circuit board", Toby explained as he watched Luca taking a few steps to the side. The night guard wanted to run away, but his fear paralyzed him. He watched Mimi running towards him, terrified of the next seconds. Just when she almost reached him, his phone started buzzing and the alarm went off. The red rings around the iris of Mimi's eyes faded. Six a.m. With an annoyed look on his face, Toby turned around and walked away. "Tomorrow", the animatronic said before disappearing around a corner. A relieved smile formed itself on Mimi's face. "Close call, but we did it", she sighed, and Luca nodded. They were safe. For now.
