"Taj"I lean my head up against the wall running my hand down my face. "You here to see somebody sweetie? You been standing in that same spot for two minutes." The hospital receptionist questions.
I glance down at my phone rereading the text Issac sent me with Tahani's hospital location. From what he told me Naomi wasn't trying to reach out to give it. But because he got love for me like a son he just had to let me know. Now here I am standing here nerves all bad trying to plan out what I'd say when I finally saw her. Part of me knew no matter how long I thought that shit over I'd never find the right words.
"Yeah do you uh know where Tahani Lowars is?"
She searches through the records before telling me. "Room 49B." She tells me.
I nod turning I bump right into someone. "My fault." I apologize. When I realize whose in front of me I stare down at her in confusion. "Suhdel? What you doing here?" I ask eyeing the doctor jacket she's wearing. With a name tag that says Kendal.
She gives me a sneaky smirk. "Don't worry about that. Real question is why you wearing a doctor jacket?" I look her up and down. I can't lie Suhdel is attractive, but I only have eyes for Tahani.
"Shh." She places her hand over my mouth the both of us laughing. "Let's just say I gotta go handle some shit currently."
"Go handle it then." I reply grabbing her hand I lower it off my mouth.
As if on cue someone yells over the announcements. "Code Blue Code Blue! Dr. Kendal you're needing in room 28C!"
"Fuck," she shakes her head her jaw clenching. "Guess I gotta handle this shit later." She takes off the doctor coat throwing it to the ground when the receptionist isn't looking.
"Guess so. See ya around." I give her a head nod.
She runs her hand down my chest giving me a flirtatious smile. "See ya around kid." And with that she rushes off leaving out the hospital.
I could tell just by watching her red hair whip in the wind as she sprints off that's she's trouble. Takes one to know one.
And she's definitely one.

I knock on her door my stomach lowkey in knots. It's been so long since I last saw her. I miss her like crazy, the image of her face the only thing getting me through recovery most days. When I woke up it was like I could feel something missing I just didn't know what. Then I started to see her face, then I started to draw her face. My mom & Mon swore up and down I was trippin and that the person wasn't real. Till suddenly those images turned into memories.
And once it all came back to me there was no going back. I had to find her. And if I didn't then I might as well just be dead.
I didn't hear anything and I take a deep breath swallowing my nervousness. I walk in trying to be as confident as I used to be before I got shot.
I wanted to call out for her but it's like my words got stuck in my mouth. "Nurse Megan is that you?" Her soft voice asks loudly from the bathroom. Just hearing her voice is enough to bring tears to my eyes.
I hear her small footsteps coming towards me. "I think I'm ready to go home no-" she stops in her tracks at the entrance of the bathroom. With wide eyes she stares at me like she's saw a ghost.
I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding in. "Hani." I breathe out. "I-" before I could even get it out she was rushing towards me and jumping into my arms. "Woah be careful baby I don't want you to hurt yourself." I say worried about her arm.
