Kiara takes off her loose handcuffs, holding them in one hand while the other has the taser. She waits for the group to move a few steps forward before springing into action.
In one fluid move, she turns sideways and places her leg behind the leg of the guy moving it in a forward motion to make him fall. At the same time, she pushes him in the chest transferring the teaser back to him. The guy, caught unaware, stumbles backwards into the guard.
Keeping her body in motion, she throws her handcuffs to Sasha's guard with all her might. Just as they are reaching her mark, someone yells behind, her drawing the guard's attention. The cuffs hit him hard in the side of the face making him flinch and release Sasha's hold.
Kiara only has time to see Sasha taking advantage of this before concentrating back on her guard. The guy is in the floor fumbling with the teaser while the guard has recovered and comes at her.
He tries to punch her in the face, but she is prepared and blocks the move. She grabs his hand before he can remove it. She pushes it upward and punches him in the sternum, just like they did to her. He double over in pain. Kiara finally hits him behind the neck, and he crumble to the floor unconscious.
Will and Sasha have been fighting with their guards but are having some trouble with their hands cuffed. Kiara steps towards Will, but the guy finally gets his act together and teases the guard fighting Will. This guard also falls to the ground, his muscles jerking slightly. Will forces him unconscious.
Kiara changes trajectory, sprinting and then propelling herself up the wall with her left foot. This helps her get airborne and do a roundhouse kick to the guard pining Sasha to the wall. He lets go from the impact and backs away taking a defensive stance. Kiara fakes a curve right punch and instead hits him in the left side of his face when he leaves it open. While he is recovering, Sasha drops to her knees and take his legs from underneath him. He falls to the ground and Kiara delivers a strait blow to his temple.
Kiara relaxes her stance.
"Place them in the cells and take away their gear" Will says his voice straining with the weight of one of the guards.
Once all the guards are each safely inside a cell, with no way of escaping, Kiara turns to the guy from the museum.
"Who are you? And what is your connection to Berte?" Kiara says wanting to confirm the offhanded comment from earlier.
"I'm Antoine and I'm Berte's adopted son." The guy answers without hesitating.
"Berte has a son?" Sasha mutters surprised.
"Unofficially adopted." Antoine clarifies bitterly.
There's antagonism between father and son, but is it enough for betrayal? Kiara narrows her eyes at him, studying his behavior and expressions.
"Why are you helping us, then?" Will says.
Kiara can see doubt and alertness in his eyes, though his tone of voice doesn't betray him.
"I have never approved of my father's actions." Antoine explains. "And I want him imprisoned as much as I'm guessing you do. You were gathering evidence against him, right? That's why you're here."
"Why should we trust you?" Kiara says neither denying nor confirming his question.
"I got you out, didn't I?" Antoine points out. "I figured how to use your disruptor and link it to this systems frequency. I can lead you to the security room to retrieve your phones."
Kiara looks at Will and Sasha and raises her eyebrow asking for their opinion.
"I'll also testify against Berte and tell them all about his plans." Antoine adds after a few seconds of silence.
Sasha studies Antoine for a moment and makes an almost imperceptible shrug. Kiara can sense honesty in Antoine, so she assents to Will. Will in turn presents his hands with the cuffs. Antoine understands and quickly releases him and Sasha.
"We should hurry." Antoine says. And passes a device, probably the disrupter, to Will. "The guards are bound to notice the glitch in the cameras."
"Lead us to the security room and don't try anything funny." Sasha instructs.
The group climbs to the stairs. They ascend two floors before stopping a few seconds to open the door.After Kiara checks the hallway and Will lets the disruptor work, they proceed. Moving down, they pass three doors and one staircase, before making a right turn that leads to another hall and then a left turn on the intersection.
They pause on every turn to make sure the hall is clear. Luckily, it must be close to nightfall because there is nobody walking around.
Antoine stops in front of the second door on the hallway and the door reads Security Room in French. Kiara gently pushes him to one side of the door, and she stands with him.
Sasha signals for Will to open the door on her mark. Will puts his back to the wall and grabs the door handle. Sasha then places herself in front and grabs one of the two charms left on her bracelet. Kiara is thankful that they didn't confiscate it.
Kiara pulls Antoine behind her as she takes a few steps back to give them space to work. Sasha nods, Will opens the door quickly, she throws the charm inside and he shuts the door. Sasha counts down from three and then a sound comes from inside the room, as if something fell. Sasha counts again.
"We're in." Sasha says as Will opens the door again.
Sasha confidently steps inside the room and the rest follow. The room has many screens one alongside and on top of one another. There is a control panel in front of them. One guard is slumped over it while the other is laying on the floor in an odd position. He was the one responsible for the noise.
