HEADQUARTERS- 1800 HOURS CEST

The man had been working nonstop since the intruder had been detected. He had built up firewalls and traps to get the intruder out of the system, but whoever he or she is, is certainly good. The man had seen how wall after wall was cracked and destroyed, and how trap after trap was elude.

In a last effort to save some of the information, the man releases the virus he had been working on. He knows it won't do much, but it would give him enough time to get something, anything that will save his life.

His fingers tap furiously as he puts is plan in motion. In a few seconds, the intruder destroys the virus, erasing successfully all the information. But it was too late, the man had managed to save one piece of data. The data that certainly will save his life. In times like this, he wonders why he had accepted this kind of job, but he quickly extinguishes that line of thinking. He couldn't afford to have second thoughts. He made a choice ten years ago and there is no turning back.

He saves the data in his laptop and shuts down his main computer. The man exists his office. As fast as he can, he speed-walks to his boss's office. He is so focused in getting there as quickly as possible that, more than once, he crashes with other workers passing by. But he doesn't let that stop him.

When he arrives at the door, he stops, takes a deep breath to calm his accelerated heart and exhales. He taps the door softly but steadily.

"Enter" A voice says from the other side of the door.

He opens the door and fully steps inside the room, closing the door silently behind him. The room is very similar to the other rooms of the building. The walls are a light grey that give it a cold feeling. There is a desk and a chair inside that at first sight look uncomfortable and stony, but are very comfortable for long hours of work and sleep deprivation. The difference is that this particular room is bigger than the rest and it doesn't have any emotional objects, it is all plain and simple.

He looks at the person behind the desk. A tall man is siting with his arms folded in front of him, his black hair has turned slightly grey with time, and he doesn't appear to be more than 40. But the man knows that his boss is around his mid-fifties. His cold dark brown eyes are what distinguishes him, they look into your soul and deepest secrets. Eyes that have seen all kinds of cruel acts and have an immense amount of knowledge. In the left side of his face lays a scar from eyebrow to cheek. No one has really heard the story behind that scar, but everyone knows that it is not a pretty story.

"Report of the intruder" the man says being careful not to look directly at his boss's eyes.

"Go on"

"The intruder's objective was to whip out all the information of Berte's computer system." He begins.

"Did the intruder succeed?"

"Yes, sir", He says but when he senses the hostility in the atmosphere he quickly adds: "But I managed to save a small part of the data."

"Which?"

"A security camera footage of the conference room". He swallows thickly, his throat drying up. If this doesn't please Xavier, he is as good as dead.

"And why would it be useful?" Xavier says in a monotonous tone.

The man quickly puts the video footage on his laptop and turns it around, so Xavier can see. The video shows what the cameras outside of the meeting room recorded.

At first, the two guards posted outside the door are motionless. Then the elevator opens and the only thing inside is a shoe. One guard approaches.

The cameras record when a blur falls from the roof of the elevator, landing directly over him making him fall. The blur hits the guard leaving him unconscious. It immediately changes directions and attacks the other guard, also driving him to unconsciousness.

The blur goes back to the elevator and puts on the shoe. It is now clear that the blur is a seventeen-year-old girl with brown-golden hair. She stops in front of the doors.

After receiving a message through her intercom, the doors of the meeting room open and a surprised Berte appears. They exchange words and when Berte attacks her, she outmaneuvers him and pushes him back inside the room. The video footage is interrupted here by static.

The room is silent after the footage ends. The man knows that Xavier is in deep thought and if he interrupts him, he will be severely punished.

"Go back to the image of the girl exiting the elevator." Xavier orders. The man does as he says. "Zoom it in until the girls face can be seen perfectly." The man does it.

"Whoever the intruder is, he or she is most probably working with her." He says to Xavier. "And is most probably the one talking with her through the intercom."

"You are dismissed." Xavier replies. The man knows that he doesn't have any choice, therefore he leaves the office.

Xavier stares at the face of the girl for a long time, memorizing every inch of her face. She seems familiar somehow. He just can't place why.

He watches the video again and again. 4, 8, 10 and 20 times. Finally, his brain makes the connection. Her facial expressions remind him of Agent David Starling. If there is a family connection, this could make his revenge even more satisfying. However, if she is as good as him, then his plans could be in danger. Of course, she is just a teenager and would have to find out in time to stop him. For now, he doesn't need to worry about it.

He presses the intercom in his desk. "You know what to do with Mr. Yevtushenkov."

"With pleasure" A raspy voice answers.

"When you finish, inform the Council that Phase 2 is in motion." Xavier adds. "And find everything you can about the girl in the video."

"What video, sir?"

"It'll be waiting for you when you finish."

"Yes sir."
