ฅ Chapter 7: The Secret And Clarification (Baji and Femi's Story)

"Kiera, can you stay up here for a while. There's something I need to tell you." 

Your eyes widened upon his request, but more noticeably, his serious face. You gently mumbled, "Sure."

After Matsuno took his day off to fully recover, the pet shop was finally back in business. Everything had returned to its orbit. He worked in the morning till seven at night, and his remaining time was to spend with everyone. But there was one tiny little problem, your short-tempered uncle was definitely not acting like himself. 

Here was what happened yesterday morning.

You ambled around the store and saw a familiar dark complexion of the lower back. Sitting outside the supremely comfortable grey igloo, Theodore was exploring his new hideout, ordered by Matsuno a week ago. You politely greeted him, "Hey TD, you're resting?" 

His body shook and curved entirely in the bed before he responded in a strange voice, "Y---yeah. You need anything?"

"Nothing. I just wanted to say Hi! Are you ok?" 

"I---I'm fine. Just... wanna take a nap!"

You wondered what happened to him but didn't want to ruin his sleep either. Maybe he's tired. I'll ask him later then. "All right... Sleep well!" 

"Y---yeah, thanks!" 

And here was yesterday noon.

The male cat was sunbathing, rolling his body on the floor. His face was extremely satisfied until he opened his eyes and saw your curious face.

"AHHH!" He screamed, making you move your body back, eyes widened upon his strong reaction. 

"Sorry if I scared you!" You apologized. Let's say that it was partly because you approached him without making a sound, so it did give him a little heart attack. But to your surprise, TD was in a defense mode, crouching low to the ground and lowering his head. 

"TD? Are you---" 

"Oh! I... have something else to do. Bye kid!" He turned around and dashed immediately, leaving you standing there and asking yourself, Is he ignoring me?

And one more small detail you noticed. He didn't sit next to you during lunch like he used to be. The usual position is Hugo, Femi, TD and you, from big to small, from giant to tiny. But yesterday, he went and sat next to Hugo. Matsuno also noticed it when bringing the bowls to you guys.

"Changing your seat TD?" He asked.
"It's ok, as long as you're comfortable."

Your ears reacted. Comfortable? Comfortable?? So he's uncomfortable in his old position? There was definitely something wrong here! But you didn't say a word, just silently observing him. 

Yesterday had finally passed with a lot of confusion. You couldn't even sleep at night as your mind was trying to figure out what was going on. 

I should ask Femi and Hugo. You slowly went to sleep, leaving the answer for tomorrow.

Another day, another lunch, and TD still hadn't talked to you a bit. He still sat next to Hugo, slowly enjoying his meal like nothing happened. Once the male cat had finished, he headed back to his hideout like usual while you were sitting there and gazing at him.
