ฅ Chapter 9: The Invitation

You told yourself to take a day off from thinking about your situation, but there would be many more when someone constantly paid Matsuno's Pet Shop a visit.

Whenever the clock struck at four, the entrance door was once again opened. You laid on your small bed like usual and gazed your eyes at her, the pure blonde girl in her floral dress and the faint rosy cheeks under the sunlight. She always walked in with a gentle smile, greeting the owner doing his work with a soft voice.

"Chifuyu, I come to visit you!"

"Emilie?" Their eyes met when he turned around. Taking a few steps to where she was standing, Matsuno then leaded her the way in, "Please wait at the counter. I'll be there when I'm done." 

You watched them heading closer to you, slightly wrapped your tail around your body when she sat on the stool. "Hi Hugo, Kiera." She waved her hand. Her gaze quickly focused on him going back to his customer while you were laying here, feeling the unusual sensation in your chest again. It's the fifth time this week.

Emilie visited his shop the day after they had lunch and to your surprise, she only sat on the stool until the shop closed, looking at him and chatting when he was free. 

"Geez, how long has it been since I last saw this?" Femi said while watching them. 

"A few years?" You added. 

"Yeah. Kinda weird, you know."  Femi turned to you and asked innocently, "How 'bout you sis? Feel anything...? ", she stopped. 

"Anything...? What do you mean?" 

"Like... not feeling comfortable or---" Femi was trying to come up with something but was interrupted by another voice. 

"Give her a break Femi."  

"Hugo? I thought you were sleeping." Said Femi. 

"I'm not deep asleep and I don't want to overhear your conversation," The Doberman yawned with his eyes shut, "but why do you keep asking her those questions?" 

"I'm just curious." 

Taking a moment to think, you finally replied how you felt, "Fine, I guess?" 

How could you answer more when that was all you felt? Femi didn't ask you anything afterwards, just sitting beside you and watched the couple from a far talking to each other.  You didn't mind it at first, both her questions and the scenario in front of you until you became more conscious in a sense. 

It was normal, only that day, perhaps... She started to help him on the other days, organizing the snacks,  feeding the pets. Basically, anything she could do to help.

Everything was fine. Everything was good.

Well... that was what you were trying to convince yourself.

You felt the familiar ache when you saw them standing close to each other, but the sensation was different. It was uncomfortable. I shouldn't be like this. You shook your head to escape your own thought. 

"You okay Kiera?" Your eyes widened when a finger touched your head. You didn't even realize his presence at that time. When you looked at his blue eyes, you only saw the concern in his gaze.
