ฅ Chapter 8: The Presence of A Girl

"So... who was that girl?"

You opened up as you felt that it was now the perfect time to ask.

After all those days having a headache from thinking about your situation, you decided to take a day off and hang out with the others in the playground.

The bell rang again, notifying the fourth customer in the morning. A man in his comfortable loose tee was entering the store with a smile on his face.

"Yo! How're you doing?"

This voice... Matsuno's face brightened up to see the wavy black-haired male raising his left hand to greet him.

"Partner! Long time no see!" He lifted his hand to give him a high five.

"As fit as a fiddle huh?"

"You know me well." Matsuno chuckled before leading him to the counter, "Come here and take a seat!"

That man took a quick glance around the shop until he noticed someone unfamiliar staring at him. He walked to the playground and sat down in front of the tiny body.

"And who is this cute guy here?"

Cute guy? You lifted your left brow to give him an excuse me look which soon caught your owner's attention. He gently let out a signal. "Ehem!"

"Huh?" The other male turned around to see his friend shake his head. "Don't tell me---" He looked at you again, at the murderous gaze and started to perspire when you raised your right paw up to showcase those tiny but sharp claws.

"Oh!" It didn't take that long for his face to reveal a strained smile before going pale. "I--I'm sorry. W--who is this Lady, L--Lady over here?"

You gracefully retreated your claws, putting your paw to the previous position with a pleasant smirk on your face.

"Meow." (Trans: Good.)

As I expected... Matsuno laughed when his friend was all puzzled and surrendered in front of you.

"All right, all right! Her name is Kiera, a new member in my fam. And this guy here," His arm wrapped around that person's neck "is Takemichi Hanagaki, my partner!"

Partner? So they're close friends. You tilted your head to the side while feeling your heart lighten somehow. After hearing the story about Baji-san, you just hoped that Matsuno could have a friend to lean on. Well, seems like he did. You chuckled.

Huh? What is he... Your eyes widened when Hanagaki reached out his hand. "Nice to meet you, Kiera!" He smiled.

You looked at his gestures and his facial expressions, knowing that they were all genuine. No bad intentions detected, he doesn't even defend. You raised your paw up to shake his hand.

"Meow."

"Wow! You taught her that?" His eyes sparkled at the way you respond, making Matsuno shake his head again and giggle.

"I didn't. She's smart as you can see," He pointed his elbow in Hanagaki's arm, "so you don't wanna mess with her."

The wavy-haired male perspired again while trying to explain, "It was just an accident!"

"Meow." (Trans: (ー_ー) And I'm still here you know.)

They both bursted out laughing until Hanagaki sensed that there were a few more eyes watching him. "Let's head over there and talk. I guess we're interrupting them."
