When I arrived home, mum had made my dinner. It was taco night. I desperately sat down and scoffed my tacos. "Well, someone's hungry." announced mum, breaking my silence.
"I guess." I replied with a mouth full a guacamole.
"How was school?" Why did parents always have to ask this kind of stuff.
"Fine." I sarcastically answered.
"Okay." she strangely said.
"Okay." I returned the words to her.
(Going tfios style)
After tea I showered and went to bed. It was hard to get to sleep, as always, but I managed.

"MORNING SUNSHINE. WAKE UP SLEEPY HEAD. TIME FOR SCHOOL!" Mum screamed up the hallway, assuming that the first thing I wanted to hear in the morning was someone reminding me of that horrible place I have to go to.
"Don't remind me." I mumbled under the covers. I got dressed and had my breakfast. I had just finished when mum told me it was time to go to school.
"Bye." I said as she kissed me on the cheek.
"Goodbye. Have a good day Wayne."
I dawdled once again to school, thinking about the terrible things that awaited me.

I sat in my usual spot. Suddenly, my eyes were drawn to a girl who had just walked in the room. She was stunning. She had tight blonde curls that stopped just passed her shoulders. Even though her style was laid back, she had this thing about her that made such a simple style, so classy. She was wearing ripped skinny jeans with a loose fitted top half tucked into her pants. On the front the shirt there was an Eiffel Tower with some French words reading "La Boutique da' noir." or something like that. I didn't take French. Her electric blue eyes were softened with a slight green tint near her pupil. She was wearing a hint of makeup, the most noticeable being the strawberry lipgloss. She nervously looked my way. I turned my head away from her almost immediately. There was a spare desk next to me. The only one in our class. She walked over to it and sat down, placing her purple leopard print bag on the floor.
She spoke quietly, a bit like an angel "Hello."
"Hey?" I replied, unsure of whether she was talking to me or not.
This is my chance, I thought. She doesn't know that I'm a weirdo. An outcast. I can talk to her like a normal person.
Her sweet voice broke my thoughts "I'm Karly."
I could see that she wanted a name exchange. So I have her one. "I'm Wayne."
"I like that name." That made me blush a little.
I was nothing compared to her. I was wearing a blue shirt with two buttons a a small rip on the shoulder. My pants didn't even match. They were red. My shoes on the other hand were brown. So there you have it, the walking rainbow. I was drawing on my book when my eyes were distracted by her fingers. They were searching for something in her bag. She pulled out a case. Slowly and hestitantly, Karly opened the case and took out a pair of glasses. She saw that I was watching her and snapped the lid of the case shut, looking embarrassed.
"It's ok." I assured her, "I have glasses too. I know how you feel."
That obviously helped her because she slid the glasses on her face. She looked at me.
"Wow." I half mouthed and half whispered. She had heard me. I knew because she blushed and fiddled with her fingers.
"Thanks." Karly replied.
I decided to place my glasses on as well. She laughed at this response and I laughed back. My glasses were just the same old boring kind (as you probably would've predicted considering my appearance so far). Karly's glasses were amazing. They were obviously custom made. They were the 'nerd' style black glasses with orange diamonds on the side. They framed her face perfectly. For the rest of the lesson I just sat, and stared. (Hey I couldn't help myself. Okay?)

The bell rang and the 30 or so students who made up year 9 at my high school, poured out of the classroom. I was at the back when I caught a glimpse of Karly at the front. I ran out the door and tried to catch up with her.
"KARLY!!" I yelled despite people staring. She slowed and turned to look at me racing up behind her.
"Hey." She chirped, "I was just looking for you!" That made me blush a little inside.
"What a coincidence!" I said back.
"Hey I'm really sorry, I would love to stay and chat but I have to run. I've got gymnastics this afternoon and I have to go get changed before I go. It was lovely meeting you today. Thanks for giving me company at break. Your my first friend here so far. I'll see you tomorrow!" And with that she pulled a note from her pocket and age me a hug. I felt everything tingle inside. She handed me the note which had been folded several times. I though I would wait until she's gone to open it.
"See you tomorrow." I smiled as I said it.
"See you then." She replied back.
"Bye Karly." I quietly said as she walked away.
