(Still Wayne's POV)
I clicked the end call button I my phone and shoved it back in my pocket. I grabbed my jacket and pulled on a pair of thongs, not even worrying about my hair. I raced into Mum and Dad's room (sorry I haven't mentioned that I have a Dad yet. He works shifts and is only home sometimes) and shook them both awake.
"Morning mum and Dad. Sorry to wake you but Karly has been in a car accident and I need to call someone and go help her. I'll take a taxi and be home soon. I'll call you of I need anything. Okay?" I half asked and half demanded
"Okay sweetie. It's great that you care but please stay safe and follow everyone's rules okay? Be home soon. If you are going to the hospital or are going to be home later this morning give us a call so we can call school." My parents are so nice.
"Okay. Thanks. Bye." I ran down the hallway whilst calling the taxi. I waited in the front yard, freezing amongst the fog. Soon after, a taxi pulled up in our front yard. It had only been about 3 minutes since I had called. I jumped in the taxi and dialled the ambulance. While I was waiting for them to pick up, I told the taxi driver where I wanted to go.
"Hello? Can I please speak to the ambulance. Hello? I would like to report a crash consisting of about seven vehicles. ......Umm. No. I'm not aware of any deaths. ......Yes. It is serious. ........Emergency. .....Yes. I know a teenager called Karly. She is 14. ..........Yes she is alive. .........837HIJ. .......Thank you.......Yes. Okay. Bye." I clicked off my phone as the taxi pulled up at the road. I had just managed to make it there before they closed off the road. I searched for Karly's Brother's car. The one that she had been driven in that night. I couldn't see it anywhere until I glanced under the pile of cars in the middle of the crash. I had to climb over several cars surrounding the pile in the middle of a crashed circle. I knew that a lot of other people had been injured as well, but the ambulances were on their way and plus there was only one person I loved in that crash. Karly. No! No! No! I thought to myself as I saw that her car was the one that had been the most seriously broken. I could just see her and her brother's heads.
"Karly!" I screamed above the horns and sirens. I saw something move a tiny bit. It made me race even faster because I knew that she was still alive. I grabbed a nearby rock and smashed through the cracked windshield, ignoring the pain of all the glass that had splintered off cars, digging through my thongs. My hands were cut and bloody, but I didn't care. I just managed to reach my em through the windshield and unlock the door which took a bit of persuading to open. I crawled inside the car and unbuckled Karly's seatbelt. She was cut everywhere and about to pass out. But she was alive and that was the main thing.
"Karly. Karly! Speak to me!"
"Wayne. You came." I berated a sigh of relief as she could talk, meaning that she probably didn't have much brain damage. I hauled her out of the car and layer her on the road while signalling for a paramedic to come and help. A group of paramedics rushed over with bags and cases of stuff to help keep people alive. They unzipped the bags and frantically pulled out a gas mask.
"I'm gonna go get her brother." I screamed over the yelling, sirens and beeping cars. The paramedics age me a thumbs up then one of the younger ones said
"Okay mate. Thanks heaps. We'll take care of umm......"
"Karly" I said
"Thanks. We'll take care of Karly. Bring her brother over here too." And with that I rushed off to unbuckle her brother am pull him over to the paramedics. He was cut as well but not as badly as Karly because the steering wheel half shielded him from the flying glass.
"Wayne?" He wearily asked "Wait! Where's Karly?" He seemed freaked out as any big bro would.
"Don't worry, I took her out of the car. She's right over here with the paramedics." I assured him as I later him down next to Karly. He took gold of her hand as she looked over at him and smiled.
"Everything will be okay." he assured his little sister.
"Okay." Started the paramedic "We will have to take Karly to the Emergency and Specialist Hospital to make sure she doesn't have internal injuries. Her circumstances are worse than her brothers. Her bro on the other hand we will take to the Royal Terrins Hospital as he only needs a check I've and some stitches." They started to pack up the equipment as they got ready to take them off.
"Everything will be okay. I'll visit you later. Don't worry about me." Said her brother as he was escorted off. He grabbed my arm gently "Take care of my sis. Please stay with her. She hates hospitals and gets scared. She needs you to keep her calm. Thanks" he explained to me softly
"I will. Don't worry." I assured him back as he gave me a smile and was taken into the ambulance.
Karly looked at me with worried eyes. "Its okay Karly. I'm going with you. Your brother is okay. He only needs some stitches." I whispered to her. She looked like she was in a lot of pain. I held her cold hands as they wheeled her away. They pushed the bed into the ambulance as I walked up next to her and found a seat next to the gas tanks. My heart was still racing. I was trying to believe that she would make it through this, but I knew deep down that she might not. Once we arrived at the hospital, I realised that this was it. That this was real and actually happening. All at once it all felt so real as everyone rushed around to make Karly stable and take her into the hospital. They made me wait in the guest area as I watched Karly being hooked up to thousands of beeping machines to keep her alive.
