Chapter 12•

Nandini stops and turns around and sees manik on the ground being shot, she looks at him as her eyes and mouth widen.

"Manik!" She shouts, the guys continue to point their guns towards Nandini, without thinking she runs to manik and holds his hand.

"G-go" manik says in a weak voice, he felt as if he was losing his senses. Nandini looked at him as tears rolled out of her eyes. The 2 man had their guns pointed towards Nandini as they adjust to her height.

"Are you fine?" Nandini asks him.

"R-Run t-they will ki-ll y-ou" manik says finding the strength, he still had fierce in his eyes despite being shot

Nandini looks up at the two guys, fear was clearly seen in her eyes as she sees them both pointing their guns towards her.

"Ru-run Nandini!" Manik tries to shout but in vein as he was losing all his strength.

Nandini holds Manik's hand tighter, as she sees them pull the trigger. She closes her eyes tightly looks down as she hears gun shots, manik on the other hand manages to open his eyes looking at Nandini to make sure she was safe.

Nandini was not shot. She realises she felt no pain and opens her eyes slowly looking in the direction of the men, they were on the ground shot with karan standing behind them as he pulls the gun down. Nandini looks at him and takes a deep breath.

"Karan! They shot manik" Nandini cries to him, karan runs over to them from a distance.

"Manik? Manik" he tries to get manik up but he was shot in the back.

Karan stands up "I'll get the car here Nandini Tum please manik ke saath rehna" karan runs to his car.

Nandini looks at manik "don't close your eyes manik, thodi himmat karo itna gehra wound nahi hai" she motivates him

"T-tumhe toh Khush h-hona chahiye—y-your nightmare is over, you w-wont ah have to deal with me anymore" manik says breathing heavily, Nandini looks away.

"A-aren't you h-happy that I will die" manik says, Nandini meets her eyes with his.

"Shut up Tum bohot bolte ho, mujhse bhi zyada" Nandini tells him avoiding his last thing he said.

Karan brings his car to them as it was an open field, Nandini gets up and opens the backseat door, karan grabs manik and makes him seat in the back seat as he is unable to lay down on his back as that's where he was shot.

Nandini grabs his hand and pulls him closer as he rests his head on Nandini's chest but a little closer to her neck, she puts his hands around his head and holds wraps the other hand around him securing him in place.

Karan runs to the drivers seat and speeds out of there.

Nandini looks at manik and notices that he was constantly closing his eyes "apni aankhen khuli rakho"

"Manik! Keep your eyes open!" She taps his face gently making sure he keeps them open.

"How long karan? Please jaldi chalao!" Nandini looks at karan who was driving.

"Bas some time, when we cross this highway hum poch jayenge" karan turns his head around slightly answering Nandini.

She takes a deep breath and looks down, as her lips slightly touched manik hair. His hand falls on Nandini's other hand as she twists it around taking his hand in to hers and caresses it, with the other hand she runs her finger through his hair. All the negative and positive scenes with manik flash in from of her.
