Sabrina stood in front of her dormitory's full-length mirror, hair freshly straightened and eyeliner freshly reapplied, holding two tops up against her body, one red and one green, trying to decide which of them to wear to her date with Sirius, which was approaching very quickly: time seemed to be rushing by.
Adeline Duncan watched from her bed, where she sat silently, reading alone. As much as she hated to admit it, she'd missed her friend, and wished she could be with her, helping her decide what to wear for what she could only assume was a date, even if she didn't agree with the circumstances under which said date was under.
"If you'd only be wearing the red because he's in Gryffindor, you're better off with the green." She sighed, giving in and speaking to her friend.
Sabrina turned around, surprised to hear her voice, "Thanks." She smiled, choosing the green top and slipping it on.
"You got a letter, by the way," Adeline stood up and walked over to Sabrina's bed, which was near the mirror, "It looks like Walburga Black's handwriting." Sabrina sighed, taking the envelope in her hands, instantly recognising that Adeline was right.
"You are still working for her, aren't you?" Adeline asked, noticing Sabrina's reaction.
"Yes," she sighed, "But I don't really want to."
"You do like him." Adeline smiled.
Sabrina shrugged, unable to hold in her own smile, "He's alright."
Adeline gasped, "You're in love!"
"I am not in love, I've known him like two months," she defended, though she'd laughed at her friend's words, "Hey, how are things with Remus?"
"Good," she said, "Great. It's going really well."
"That's great," Sabrina smiled, debating whether to apologise or not, when another thought popped into her head, "How are Nat and Marlene?"
"What's it to you?" Natalia said, overhearing as she entered the dormitory, and taking Adeline and Sabrina by surprise.
"Nat!" Adeline greeted with a smile, "Sabrina was just-"
"I don't care," Natalia said bluntly, "Oh, by the way, Sabrina, I've updated your plan for you. Ticked number three off."
"'Befriend friends'?" Sabrina questioned, trying to recall the list, which she hadn't looked at in a good while, having all but forgotten about it.
"Well, I thought you might have found some new friends to use." Natalia gave a false smile, "You coming, Ads?"
"We're doing some revision for OWLs," Adeline explained, "Good luck on your date, Sab."
Sabrina smiled at Adeline, and quickly switched to a glare as Natalia came into view. After the door had closed behind them, Sabrina walked over to her sock drawer, where the parchment containing the plan she'd written in January, along with all of the letters she'd received from Walburga, was kept. Sure enough, Natalia's smudged, left-handed tick had been left next to number three.
About to close the drawer, Sabrina remembered the letter Adeline had left on her bed, and walked over to pick it up, leaving the drawer open with the intention of adding it to her collection after she'd read it.
Sabrina,
The Dark Lord hasn't heard from you in a while (nor have I), and would like you to join His meeting tomorrow evening. Samuel will meet you at his home at five o'clock, and will bring you to the meeting, where we shall all discuss the progress of your time spent with my son.
No need to write back, I trust you will be there.
Walburga Black
